Thought i would share my little side project for those who may be interested
I had been reading a bit on ppl who have done pc grow boxes and looks really cool! so i thought i would conjure up my own pc grow box just for the fun of it
I had all the bits n pieces scattered around the shed to do it so i thought "why not?" list of stuff i used - mid tower pc case (7"w x 16" h x 16.5"d internal dimensions) 70w metal halide 3000K, 6600 Lumen + ballast etc 2 x squirrel cage fans salvaged from old tv's (these suckers move a heap of air for their size and they're quiet!) coolermaster aerogate 2, 4 ch fan controller with 4 ch temp sensors (leftover from old pc) 12v and 5v powersupplys to run the fans and controller 1/8" luan ply leftover from another project old fridge freezer basket around a dozen hot melt glue gun sticks and the usual assortment of scrounged nuts, bolts, screws, cable ties and rivets. i started by drilling out the rivets that held the hdd and cdrom drive cage and removed it. the 70w mh came from a recycled shop light so i stripped it down and mounted the lamp holder and modified reflector to the top of the case. i mounted the ballast on the back of the case for heat reasons but the ignitor resides inside the case up in a corner. i used the ply to make the front and rear panels to seal off holes and mount the fans to. once i had all that mounted up i painted the inside of the case white. the little scrog screen i cut up out the old freezer basket. im getting some pretty hot days here of around 96.8 so temps seem to be an issue. i can keep the case at those sort of ambient temps during the day with light on but still a little too hot for my liking, oh well nothing to lose! night temps are a lot better at around 80 with light on so i'll be running the light at night
the seedling is some unknown bagseed as with the empty pot next to it
