My Second Try - How does it look

Hi Guys,

This is my second try!

First one went pretty well, but this time I tried to improve things:

  • I'm starting since the beginning with the mars hydro (the previous plant started with a CFL)
  • I'm using Proper Nuts, I've no tool yet to verify ppm and stuff like this, so I'm just following the instructions, voodoo juice, big candy and so on (Advanced Nutrients is the name of the brand)
  • Using PH controlled soil with Perlite
  • Using blumat to regularize the feeding and the watering (even i think the soil is a little bit too wet, still trying to get the best balance..)
  • Using Fabrique Smart Pot 11L
On the other side,
  • Very few LST as the plant exploded (not literally) when i was in holiday and it was too late when i get back.
  • Weather is colder and more humid!
How does it looks like? Any suggestions? What did i messed up this time? XD

How many further weeks should i wait before harvest from a quick look?

Thanks as usual guys!

Maybe the tent is a bit too small and u couldnt strech the plant in width that much with lst but it looks good for a second grow :)

@VandalGrowerOg Yeah, i did LST the 3 and 4 week, but then i went in holiday for 10 days and once back, she was too grown and big to apply any LST, there was no space anymore.

Compared to the first one, same seeds, probably because of the light or the nut, this one it's a lot fatter and full of leaves, and it fill the space totally while the other one was more skinny and less leaves.

I wonder if considering the limited space i should defoliate a little bit to get more light to the lowest part of the plant.

any idea about how long more before harvesting? :)

have you no idea how long you been in flower for? rough estimate?
Ah sorry, i'm an idiot! The plant has 60 days, 8 weeks and half! and the seed vendor declared time is (in theory) of 8/9 weeks.

I harvest the previous one at the end of her 10th week.

And... these fotos are taken when your Led is off??? Taking quite a big risk of herming at this stage
Yeah it was off and I used the flash! Why? What are they at big risk of herming?

Also how do you understand i need to put less nuts? What can be the issue related to that? thanks a lot for suggesting, as it's the first time i'm using proper nuts. Should i start giving her fresh water?

looking at them when the flowering light and flowering lighting times can upset the plants and they can turn hermaphrodite
the nute problems can be seen in the photoes, many growers now starve the plant of nitrogen and other nutes to make the bud taste better, less nutrients in it.
i shouldnt worry too much about it being this is your second grow, just maybe feed less offten, like leave an extra day or two between feeds.

what is your feeding schedual? and what you feeding them?

Thanks for your reply!

Yeah but i don't get it, why should turn hermaphrodite?

Is @Bukvičák saying that the photos with flash can cause risk of herming? Or anything else in the light setup??

These are the nuts
  1. Advanced Nutrients - B-52 - 250ML
  2. Advanced Nutrients - Voodoo Juice 250ML
  3. Advanced Nutrients - SENSI Pack (pH Perfect)

Obviously i'm using them following their instructions between growing and blooming phases.

My error probably is that i'm giving nuts with blumat so it is continuous, i never stopped, but considering that, i'm giving 30% less than suggested on the instructions.

What is the downside of giving too much nuts? just the taste or anything else? Should i maybe stop 1 week giving just water now? How do i fix to much nuts considering the stage the plant is at?

You can straight up over-dose plants to death if your not careful with nutes. And anytime you mess with the dark cycle can cause issues. Even little pin holes in your tent tiny leds off power bars/equipment anything like that.

Okay got it thanks! U suggest me to stop any nut for a week? Or to cut just the nut with N?

Also considering the foliate issue? Should I defoliate just a little bit to allow the light getting into the lower buds? They are pretty behind down there...

You can take off some leaves that are covering bud spots. If the branches that are about to come up are real thin down to the stalk you could also just cut them so they stop taking energy off your canopy as well. If its an auto cutting branches probably wouldn't be the best idea tho.

Just took some photos with lights switched on...

Buds still small :( hope I did not waste the yeld because of too much nuts

It would really depend on how mature your buds are looking then if its even worth defoliating. You are getting close to the estimated growth time now so you don't wanna slow it down this close to the end.

Overall it looks alright tho. Can almost always do more LST autos can be a pain in the ass sometimes with what seem like such random growth spurts. Small amounts of defoliating early to mid flower helps a lot but near the end you only have so much growth time left anyways. This late you probably don't need to feed it anymore nutes i wouldn't think anyways should be fine with just normal water rest of the way out with the lack of yellowing on any leaves.

I just hope paradoxically i won't get less then the first try, which was without nuts and did all the grow phase under CFL, plus many other errors (but more "badly done", LST)..

Not sure if it's just the anxiety, but it looks less buds and smaller then the previous one...
