So i was thinking, why is the washer and dryer two seperate units? They look like the basic design is the same, so why cant your washing machine just dry your clothes itself after washing it?

lol washers use water and dryers use heating elements (close to a iron or something of the such) putting them both into one unit is dangerous and could blow up or short out very easily. i do know that they have the stack model washer and dryer, where the washer is on bottom and the dryer is on top and its all one piece. i actually found one the other day that was completly trashed and was being thrown away by my neighbors. i thought about jacking it, gutting, and useing it to grow, but it was to big. oh well...

What your thinking of has been around for years, they look like front loading washers but they have the dryer built in too,its a space saving device & not very cheap when compared to regular side by side washer & dryers.

Are you thinking stackable ones? Or he is talking ONE unit, because if so, I don't like the idea of a heating element and water. Is that just me?

He is talking about an all in one unit, one that washes & drys without doing anything except turning on the machine, ive seen these units in person & we thought about buying one for our cabin but they are very expensive so we passed.

In reality they arre no more dangerous than a regular electric dryer.

No, they are no more dangerous than any other appliance. UHHH dishwasher and electricity or garbage disposal and water/electricity.

Oh, they use those all in one washer/dryer units on houseboats. I believe that was one of the first applications for it. Fire is the last thing anyone wants on a boat. They must be safe. Fire on a boat sucks, been there.

They do have the washers and dryers where the washer is on top and when its done it drops your clothes down into the dryer.

I know just putting it out there since everyone was talking about the stackable washer and dryer for saving space. I haven't seen anything on a one unit washer dryer combo but if I did I have a feeling they are to expensive for my blood.
