my timer is making noise

has anyone had a mechanical timer fail? it is a hydrofarm timer with the dial and the up down pins.
anyone had one fail before? mine is suddenly making noises
it is ticking and i dont know if it is working
i am concerned
if it stops and gives 24 hours of light my flower cycle will b screwed right?

Hi there i have had a few timers fail on me before, not through growing but due to my job ( Electrician) Most of these timers tick anyway thats the way they work, they have to rotate and tick clockwise in order for the time to function on it, its when you dont here any ticking you shoud be worried.
Just check the time on it then go back 10 minutes later and check if it has moved. Hope this helps !

ok i pulled th timer and replaced it with a diffrent one it is set to 12 and 12 and i made it 6 am to 6 pm off but i am not sure it was off and on at 6 am will the shift screw me up? i may be an hour or 2 off on the onn off time but i am pretty sure i was close

timer took a shit i replaced it. my grow shop did me right they were really nice took care of the issue instantly without question.

You can control a contactor with a cheap timer. Make sure the timer is rated for the actual power(watts) of the circuit.
