My twist on Mainline/Manifold, “Pin Wheel”

So after topping, instead of bending the branches straight down above the fan leaf directly below like I usually do, I tied them off to the side, centered between 2 large fan leaves. By not blocking the fan leaves below I will get much more light absorption. I plan to continue doing this all the way up each branch. I call this “Pin Wheel Training”

YES! I just accidentally did this to one of mine. The leaves were in the way of my clip so I just put the clip to one side of the leaf. Now several days later, I was looking over my vegging group and noticed that plant had a bit more development than the others I’m manifolding. I did it symmetrically so that they’re still in line with each other, not sure if that matters. Also I’m dedicatedly twisting every branch when I LST so that every node is on the side of the branch, but that’s maybe a different story.

I’m running a bunch of different manifolding styles right now with Durban Poison, Strawberry Cough and Purple Kush (2 sets of branches at nodes 2 and 3; one set of branches at node 2; 2 sets at 2 and 3 that I FIM’d; ..... I did it in so many different ways, mostly bc I’m new to manifolding and I’m eager to develop The Right Way (for me), ...and a little bc I have ADD and I hate doing this the same way lmao.

They’re going to get transplanted to their final pots in the next few days and then in a week and a half or so ima set them into flower. I’m interested to see what this little trick adds to the plant’s development as it grows. Now that I see someone else has made this into a Thing, I’ll be more observant about it.
Unfortunately I haven’t taken these pics of my plants since I started the training ‍♂ lol ADD :/ plus it turns out 9 plants + 1 bonus plant of 3 different strains (one seed had twins!) is a hell of a lot more work than 3-6.

Oops I should’ve added: I’ve been thinking about this all day and it’s really impressing upon me the importance of fan leaves for the branch at each leaf’s node, though I’m still (rather desperately) trying to understand what role the fan leaves play in the whole plant. I’ve got one a week and a half into flower now that I defoliated in veg (at 6 nodes), about a day or so after I FIM’d it. It’s a squat, bushy thing, but good gods is she full... I’m waiting for the stretch to be well under way before thinning it out, but there are dozens of branches coming up now from each of the auxiliary limbs.

Fun thread, you sound like me. I've grown about 10 plants using mainline/manifold....don't think I've done it the same way twice lol.
Interestingly, one of my plants is in week 4 flower at the moment and I have done something very similar. My wife says it looks like a trippy windmill
