mystery bug with no pics ...

ok ..i apologize before hand for not having or being able to find a pic of this bug. I've found them here and there in my grow room before ... but have yet to find damage they do.
IT IS .. a small black/brown bug about 1/4 the size of a ladybug ..with spots on it's back. It doesn't fly and has a hard body. When i find them in my flowering room they are usually found stuck on the resin coated bud leaves dead.
I found one today in the hole of my 2 day old seedling in a jiffy cube the fucker looked like it was feeding on something in there...
I don't expect many responses without a pic. I've looked up all variations on the net and came up with nothing.... Like i said whatever this little bug is has a hard body and cracks when crushed with spots. They are living in my house somewhere..

Ya kinda sucks with no pic but if you say they have been around and they hav'nt done any damage i would say to spray about the place and just keep them out. This might be a stupid question but have you ever had or seen what spidermites,aphids or thrips do to a plant??? if so and you dont see any damage like that around you probly dont have to much to worry about. love and respect!!

thanks man .. no i haven't had any infestations yet. KNOCK ON WOOD. but these guys have something to do with the soil. The only place i find them is near the plants or lurking around in an old pot with soil residue in it. idk. I was going to take a pic a few minutes ago when i found the bug i crushed but it was unrecognizable.. well when/if i find a new one i'll be sure to post a pic.
