Just bought a few of these today but keep hearing there is a high failure rate, warranty is good so I fugure i can buy a few extra incase some go out. Does anyone have any feedback or reviews on Nanolux 1000wat DE ballast and fixture?

I had 12 of them, and more than 12 failures. I kept replacing them under warranty and having the replacements fail. I gave up and started replacing them with Phantom and sunsystem ballasts.

Which phantom and sun system ballast is your favorite for 1000wat DE?

Whats your favorite MH and HPS bulb you like to run?

Same issues with all the fittings or multiple faults ?

DE HPS the Philips lamp is what I run.
SE HPS I use the Super Hortilux pink box
SE MH I don't have a recommendation from personal experience as my only SE fixtures require a vertical lamp and most MH lamps are horizontal only. If ran in the vertical position the lamp won't last very long at all. I just haven't messed with them because of that. I should try to find some 400w, 600w and 1000w SE MH lamps that will run vertical or universal. I would like to be able to switch out my side lighting for MH during ripening. I have done this with some 10,000 Kelvin 1kW DE MH lamps in my overhead fixtures but I usually can't change those out due to the plants being too tall and preventing me from getting on top of my trellis rig with a 2x12 lol.

Another thought I had about your ballast issue, I want to be clear that I do not have cable TV or internet so I can't verify what I have read about the RF emission or lack thereof on the ballasts I use. If you have cable then you may want to stick with the Phantom Commercial because it's listed as FCC compliant and internally shielded to prevent RF interference with the other cable subscribers on your loop. I am also told the Gavita's are good to go. Wouldn't want to buy a bunch of ballasts only to replace them after the cable guy knocks on your door lol.

They would just stop working, a few times they would take the lamp out when they failed. I even have an Intermatic panel guard surge suppressor on my 125 amp sub panel for the grow. The first batch of lamps were the Nanolux ones that came with the fixtures, then I replaced with Hortilux and Philips is what I switched to later.

Thanks for all the info, what is your favorite DE MH bulb?

I dunno, I just grabbed the 10k ones I have because they were cheap and I only intended to run them a couple weeks. They are ultra sun. Honestly if I was serious about getting some I would google "best DE Metal Halide" or something to that effect and see what the latest reports say. Probably a good idea to do that with any of my suggestions lol. For example, back in the day Ushio made SE HPS 600's that put out as much light as any other brand but at half the price so I ran them for a while.

I didn’t have even one of those 2nd gen phantom de ballasts fail. I had a shit ton of the 1st gen ones fail though. The 1st gen ones didn’t have the usb interface.

I’ll be buying 20 of their new 50 series complete setups here soon. Hopefully they’re reliable like the last ones are.

Renfro are these the ones you run? Im gonna ready your whole journal first before i ask you anymore questions

No, I linked the ones I have. I will NEVER run any ballast that is mounted up with the reflector. I can't get to them mid run if one fails, too heavy and at best I can get one hand up there without falling. My reflectors are the nanolux ones and I run the ballasts remotely. That may not work for everyone, especially those with cable tv/internet as the cable is an antenna unless it's adequately shielded.
