Need a bit of help with setup

So I am going to start growing hopefully two plants. I have been reading quite a bit about growing here and there and am going to give it a shot. I have a few seeds from some decent nug this last week and I plan on just using these for the frist run and possibly getting some flame seedlings somewhere along the line.

I have quite a bit of room and would like to grow the plants downstairs in a cement basement. I have seen many different grow boxes which I believe I would be making. I want to make it 4x4x4 But how many plants would that house? Also I see people attaching lights to the insides of these boxes but I read eveywhere you want the lights 2 inches from the plants.. How do you get the light close enough? Is tehre anywhere you can find a nub setup? I need to also know the specific lighting I would be able to get at walmart of fleet farm whereever, as in how many and what types of lights.

Im already familiar with the light schedules, fertilizer, transplanting etc.

Any feedback is appreciated!

When the lights are that close, its because they are using CFLs (Compact Fluorescents). They are the spirally ones. If you were to get them at Wal Mart or a hardware store you will probable only be able to find up to 42W lights. For Veg you will want 6500K (Daylight) and for Flower you will want 2700K (Warm Light). They hardly create any heat, and that is why they can be put real close.
If this is what you meant by "at your Wal Mart", I would say get like 10-12 42W of each spectrum... I dunno, this is just a guess. If you want a better yield, try looking at HTGsupply or craigslitst for some HPS lights... 400W would be nice for that size for flowering. The only problem with these is they will raise your electricity bill a little bit, but nowhere near enough for this to be an issue with cops or whatever. They are also hotter than CFLs, so you would have to worry about ventilation. They also cannot be placed as close to the plants, but create a more penetrating light than CFLs do.
