Yes..... exactly why I will NEVER buy a GM vehicle or a Chrysler.

Notice how NON UNION auto makers were offered .... nothing. That's why you don't let the govt. get into business.

OK so Friday is our 8th anniversary, My husband has had his F150 in and out of the shop for what seems to be forever, So I thought it would be nice to get him a new truck.
Needless to say I know nothing about trucks. or cars in general. I want to get him something brand new. I don't want to spend any more than $35,000
If your wife was going to get you a Truck what would it be? My only real restriction is he HATES Dodges. So please help me pick out a nice anniversary gift for him.

Thanks very much. I plan on going to purchase one tomorrow morning, so that I can pick it up before Friday. He will be out of town until Friday afternoon. And I want to be able to pick him up from the Airport with it and give him a nice suprise.

Ill have pics of what ever I buy hopefully by Friday morning.
Thanks so much guys!!!

Stay away from them Ford trucks..

Thats the reason its been in the shop so many times!! Its a ford!!!

Buy him a gm product, like a Cadillac Escalade..

You can get a fairly mint Escalade for well under 35k.

Never known a man who hated one of these trucks..

By the way, the escalade comes in a truck version and an suv style.

Im also a mechanic, and they are truly nice.

Transmissions are great, and the engines are Chevy tough!

He'll simply love it!!!!!! :-P

O.K. , my last 2 trucks, 454 Suburban 4X4 - 9.9 miles a gallon, only problem, loved it, it was stolen.

Jeep Cherokee 4.0 - bought after Suburban was stolen, 13 years, great, few repairs, but wouldn't carry the load.

I now drive a 2007 Tahoe 4X4 for mining activities. I paid $38K out the door. 14.5 mpg with roof rack full, with a load of about 1/2 ton.

A couple of friend recent trucks.

2008 Ford F-450 Super Duty - with Diesel turbo - Motor popped while pulling a trailer, replaced motor under warrantee. Oh yea - he gets 6.8 mpg pulling trailer.

2008 Ford F-?25 Super Duty - with Diesel Turbo - hot side of turbo went pulling nothing, but he has a large Lancer Camper, replaced turbo under warrantee.

Get a Chevy :bigjoint:

Well, I have had three ford diesel 350 duallies.... over 800,000 miles on them.... hardly any maintenance other than my own...batteries of course and I always have a spare pulley belt under my back seat....because long ago I had one go in the middle of nowhere pulling a very loaded trailer down a highway..... no steering ... no brakes.... It was exciting....

In the end...anecdotal stories aside....(everyone has them pro or con).... Ford sells more for a reason.

If he's a Ford guy, you better get him a Ford. Us guys are pretty devoted to our trucks. If it were me, I'd be looking at a King Ranch or the Harley truck. You'd have to find em used with that budget, but I would never buy new again anyway.
Good point ya got there...

If his is a strictly Ford type of guy..

I would also reccomend a Ford harley truck, or the lightning series..

I just dont know if he is devoted to Ford, or willing to change to a GM product.

Usually, Guys like flashy toys, .. The ones that stand out, are usually the trucks that guys will want.. rare series ect..

Im not gonna reveal what i Drive but Ill post a little hint... And yes, its a truck, actually, its the worlds fastest production suv.. any ideas? :bigjoint:

I always keep an extra serpentine belt with me too.I had an extra in the garage and my dad told me "Always keep that thing with you".About 6 weeks later sure enough shredded it.Luckly I had it and it was a quick fix.

Secret knows my choice....350 diesel dually ford... the KING of trucks.

But here is a buying tip Secret. Never let them hustle you inside the showroom. Stay outside for awhile.... they usually have their own system where the salesman has thresholds he/she must meet, like getting you to the DESK.

This is just like dating.... you don't just want to give it up. You're a woman... think of it in that manner and you will beat them badly.....

Know what a reasonable price to pay is BEFORE you walk onto their property.... use the web. (info is power)

Once you do walk into their office.... they usually have a system of asking you questions that only make sense if you say the word "yes" in response. That's fine, but you need to break up their pitter patter so they don't get you to rat a tat tat out "yes" over & over again)

Now, this is important.....at some point in the negotiation, you need to CALMY say... "i need to think about this" and GET UP and leave that office. the sales person will try ANYTHING to keep you there. Make sure you walk towards the OUTSIDE... (this is quota death to a salesperson, and management hates IT!!)

If need be...do it twice, but calmly and friendly. If you act hostile the salesperson will simply say you're a nut. But if there is no outward sign why you left.... it's THEIR fault to the management. Never yell...ever! (not that I think you would)

If you make it outside.... you will get a better deal.

Now...financing.... if you are doing that..... let them do their shucking and jiving....and when they crunch the numbers, they will tell you the BEST rate they can give you is XX%.

You immediately inform them you have already talked with your bank, and perhaps it is best you go with your own bank, since it is better.

They will walk out of the office.... come back, and give you a better rate.
without fail.

My last truck was 40k on the window of a place that said that was OUT THE DOOR.... no gimmicks!!!

I walked out with .... 32k.

It can be done.
