need a little help

put together a buble system last night put a germinated seed in there looks dead today I dont have rockwool I have my baskets filled with gravel my question is I dont have misters just the basic buble system with airstones should I have root in the water or do I need to bring my water level down so the root isnt touching the water just give me some helpe with how to get stated

first you shouldnt have gravel you should use lava rock or clay pebbles next you just waterfrom the top until the roots grow into the water and i keep my level about an inch from the bottom of the baskets

regular gravel is to heavy and hard for the roots to go through .do you see a ton of weeds and grass growing in a gravel pit? The best way to do this is with rockwool cubes and hydroton clay pebbles.They are cheap easy to get and make a world of difference.You wanna have a rapid crazy bubble going on use either a double helix type setup or long 10 inch airstones you want it to look like the water is bubbling about 1 inch from pots bottoms.Then as stated you top water til the roots hang from the cup maybe once a day keep cube moist not soaked..Sincerely FilthyFletch
