Need a Poor Mans Proven Setup

Living in an apartment and wanting to grow. I have browsed but have not found some good threads that seem to help me out. Im willing to spend but as less as possible. Planning on growing in closet.

Am I better off buying all of my materials from HTG? Or could I salvage some supplies and use cardboard for a grow box and tin foil for liner?

Was planning on using a 150W Florescent Light.

I have a very small efficiency apartment. All my materials except a few odds and ends came from HTG. Total price including $60.00 in seeds from the single seed center was about $500.00


I was also contemplating a cardboard box but opted for the tent. There is enough to be concerned about just attempting this hobby, I did not want to add the possability of explaining to my landlord why her house burned down.

I don't know if just 150w fluorescent will be enough light. I have 4 35w 6400k vegging cfl's (I also have 4 35w 2700k to switch too in flowering) and the 90w tri band ufo. I still want to add more light down the line. At some point I would like to add a 250w switchable ballast hid.

HTG is great, if you have one within reasonable travelling distance it is definately worth the trip. if not call the number listed on their site they are all very helpful. The store I visited was like the Angkor Wat of growing and the staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

I dont know were you from but in UK on ebay you can buy full set ups for £150-200,tent,hps 4-600watt,fan filer,nearly every thing.You might just need to buy pots.
Trust me,its the cheapest option as a hps ligh,fan and filter would cost that and you will atleast have to buy them items.

I tried to buy bits and the fact is you need every thing before you can start,buying here and there is the expensive way even if you get good deals.
Save and buy complete set up.

Dont get me wrong you could go raw!!hps ligh and pot,have every one smell it,people see in,get jail or shot and robbed.
Just telling you straigh t my friend.

buy a 2nd hand HPS off ebay an a fan n filter then build a growbox/room out of wood or plastic you buy/find laying around
