Im a clandestine cultivator in prohibition land and I have several harvests under my belt now. My main issue is while most of my buds look amazing, they lack the smell/taste of buds im able to purchase black market. I grow in 3 gallon grow bags with promix/perlite mix and i use the emerald harvest full line up with Recharge. 1000 watt HPS lighting sealed room with co2 at 1200 ppm. temps, humidity, vpd monitored and in range. I harvest and hang individual branches in a dry tent at 70ish temps and 55% Rh for 2 weeks and dry trim buds off stems into 5 gallon buckets for about 2 weeks. I have tried several different strains from different breeders all from seed and have yet to find a real tasty stinker that yields well. Im wondering if it would be worth the trouble to drive to a legal state and try to procure some proven clones? How hard is it to find a special plant popping seeds or is a possible weakness in my procedures that is hindering my success? Are the clone only strains superior in taste and smell to the majority of beans?

I’d open my horizons to other Organics sounds like you’ve got all the proper equipment needed to create a good environment for your plants. One of fun things about growing is you can experiment with your plants I keep a daily log and have a large white board in my room I use to keep track of things I’ve done or need to do.

what breeders / strains are you working with now? depending on a number of factors you could have very homogenous strains that are just meh, or something with lots of phenotype variation that just requires a lot of hunting.

"elite" clones tend to be standout in terms of terps and or yield. usually a few years of work went into finding/ hunting that gem. that would remove variable of whether genetics are good or not.

I am going to guess your dry/cure process may need adjusting.

What's in said nutrients? What do other people on here use for good results? Have you tried the search function? With good genetics from reputable source it's down to the growers skill and understanding.

Main thing for taste and smell is sufficient amount of sulfur in the plant food. That's what's commonly lacking in many of the plant foods available on the market.

55% to 65% is the curing zone, you are likely letting them get too dry. I dry at 60% for 7 to 10 days and than burp in jars for a couple weeks until you get a stable 60%. That's what works for me anyway.
Yup gotta save them terps. Even keeps not so strong smelling strains at a decent smell level

I mostly grow from seeds. If you are using a good breeder it takes about 100 seeds of a strain to find a stand out pheno. If the breeder has worked his line you might be able to find a real keeper in 25 or less.

Clean up your harvest and curing game and you'll have better results but you need to find a standout pheno and those are usually passed as clones unless you can pop 25-100 seeds (it doesn't have to be at the same time). Try runs of 10. Best of luck.

The stinkiest/ tastiest strain I have ever grown was THseeds Kushage but the yield sucked. Next would be Glueberry OG from Dutch Passion. It yielded well but Ive since lost her. Ive grown Females WW x BB, BCBD purps and sweet tooth Nirvana AK48 and Bubblecious. Im starting over from scratch with some beans i popped 2 weeks ago. Some of my research leads me to think Id be better off sourcing some proven clones vs small scale pheno hunting. Im a commercial grower so I need the best possible buds as quickly as possible and Ive never grown from clones.

I know that seems like a long hot dry but the hygrometer in the buckets usually reads 62ish. Ive even seen 65% after 2 weeks.I also dry in the same grow space but in a seperate tent.

mostly gets referred to as "cracked out" . its good bud with a strong buzz but i cant seem to match the taste and smell of the bud i can buy. And I live in prohibition land so all we got is black market.

Its less than a days drive to Maine and Im seriously considering a drive after this last round of poor germination of my hundred dollar seeds

Thanks for your reply. Thats exactly what im looking for. Im usually starting 5 packs of feminised seeds from different breeders. Im thinking bout changing to picking something and running numbers. Any particular strain you recommend? Quality is important but I need yields

I tried searching for a Promix Fertigation top feed drain to waste that i could just cut n paste but i cant find many good detailed grow reports

Get 6 regulars and do an open pollination table your first run. Then start your batches. This strain by DNA Genetics (Reserva Privada) is well worked. It smells good, smokes great and you should find a keeper. All you need to do is cure a little better. However I fuck my curing up and my weed still mostly smells ok. So a lot of it is strain dependent. As long as RP hasn't changed their genetics you should find something good. It's not the new hotness but its a good strain to learn on.
