So I got this idea to go to a community DARE fundraiser and pass out flyers with a completely serious demeanor (at least until enough flyers are passed out). It'll be titled "Historical Drug FACTS" in bold with itemized short quoteables to make for a quick and shocking read. Shit from Anslinger, the New York times etc. to rehash old racist propaganda. Quotes with racial slurs are a plus.
My community is extremely conservative middle-class Christian with a coating of bullshit progressive veneer. It's not and I want to highlight the fact that they're all secretly a bunch of racist shitbags. Maybe I'm wrong and people here really are progressing but any way it goes down I really just want to remind people of prohibition's inherently racist foundation.
I have a really fucked up sense of humor and sometimes can tell when I'm over the top but I think we can all agree that the drug war's bullshit is over the top. I always figured the best way to fight shit is with the truth and that the best way to draw attention to the truth. Do keep in mind that I'm a blond haired blue-eyed male. I've considered several ways to 'dress for the occasion' and so far my favorite is the clean-cut 50's square. I don't want to pretend to be racist or supporting prohibition. I just want to distribute a series of racist quotes that were originally used to sell prohibition and allow people to decide what they think for themselves and do their own goddamn research. Names, professional titles and dates are important.
Criticism and suggestions on the idea itself are welcome as well as any suggested quotes.
