Need Expert Opinion!!! Exterminators Coming!!

Hey All!

So, we have come to one of the most DREADFUL parts of living in a damn townhouse... EXTERMINATORS!! Our landlord called and told us that 10am Friday morning they are coming to spray inside and out. Our girls are in one of our upstairs bedrooms which now has become "The Girls Room". They are in a closet that is open for ventilation and basically have the room sealed off completely. I have heard that exterminators can kill plants. Since our girls are near 2 weeks into flowering, are all 3 are between 15 - 18 inches tall. They are in their 12/12 regimen, lights coming on at 12:30am and going off at 12:30pm.

Now, I asked the landlord "do we HAVE TO?!?!" because I don't want these fuckers in here as it is... I hate having to "clean up the place". Meaning HIDING EVERYTHING!! GRRR!

We don't have anyone we can trust. No one knows we are even growing. At this point we have TWO OPTIONS.

ONE: We have a padock on the room anyway cuz the doorknob is shitty and our cat got in there already and killed a seedling so I'm just about ready to slap the padlock closed and go "sorry dude, you can't spray that room". But, we are paranoid thinking dude will see a padlocked room and not being allowed in there might wonder what we are up to... or...

TWO: We have this ONE closet we can block with the sofa. I was thinking maybe I could cover them with a black garbage bag and stick them in there. I figured it would be better to leave them in complete darkness for nearly 2 days then to fuck with the light because I don't want to stress them out. THIS JUST SUCKS!

Even if we leave them in the room padlocked... can the spray still get them in there??? PLEASE! I'm polling the audience here! lol

Should we move them into the closet and cover them with garbage bags? Or just keep them out of the room all together? We have way too much money invested and at this point the plants are KICKIN' ASS. It would be such a waste to lose them to Terminex! THANKS GUYS!

well depending on their size maybe you wanna try out rubber maid , stalking them and cutting the bottom off of the top one so that you can have space for your lights and if your woried try figuring out a filter system if it doesn't look like a grow to you it might not look like one to them, if its done right they might have a better chanceif you can maybe u wanna try to make the closet look like just a nother wall if possible

That's a good idea however there isn't a door on the closet. It's like a sliding bamboo door. Basically the plants can still be in contact with the spray. After thinking about this heavily since I posted this thread I think we are just going to tell them they can't go in that room. We have a good reason for it and for the padlock so it shouldn't be fishy to them. Since my wife mixed a CO2 jug a few days ago the room smells sweet - not skunky. So at this point there is no odor anymore. Well, there hasn't been any odor since she put that CO2 jug in there! Thanks for your input tho, it gave us another angle.

So it's the 12 hour countdown til the exterminators come. My wife and I have decided that we are just going to padlock the room and keep them out. I have two new questions now tho...

First - Their lights come on at 12:30am and go OFF at 12:30pm... Since they are coming at 10am and you can see lights from the sides of door frame when they are on... I don't want them seeing a padlocked door closed with bright lights beaming out from the doorframe. Should we not turn the lights on tonight and just keep them off the entire time until Saturday at 12:30am? I know the ONE day of extra darkness won't hurt them. At least I think it doesn't. I'm assuming darkness is better than light at this stage...

Second - Even with the door to the room closed and it being padlocked, will the spray the exterminators use still get the plants?? Do we need to get them out of the house??

Please any EXPERTS! or anyone who knows for a FACT what this spray can do to them let us know!! THANK YOU!!! I DON'T WANT TO LOSE OUR GIRLS!!!

Tell them that you dont want them in "Your Bedroom" Thats all.. If the landlord gets pissy .. say nicely You are required to give my 28 days notice ( written) to gain entrance to the premiss..... Hold tight and dont sweat it .. its simple .. Put your cat in there too.

I don't believe they are allowed to go into bedrooms. I'm not even sure they would come upstairs. When I lived in past apartment complexes they would only spray the kitchen, dinning, and living room areas. Pad lock that shit. You have valuables and you don't trust those bastards, that's the only excuse you need... Pad lock'em both and then you definitely don't need to worry about the pesticides and your plants.

Sweet that's what I thought... So the spray in the rest of the house won't bother them as long as they are in there with the door closed? Right? Thanks Vette!

Korvette, that 28 days thing is a state to state thing. Here in FL its 24hr notice.

Well i'm in Ohio. Either way they aren't getting in that room! They aren't killing our girls!

But, still no one has let me know if they can still die from the spray eventho that room itself hasn't been sprayed. Can that shit travel in there from the rest of the house??

think if they went in killing everyone's house plants... People would be pissed!
True, True... I just thought that the actual spray that they use could kill them. In my paranoia I couldn't tell you why lol I thought my wife told me that once but she says i'm crazy! lol I was prolly ripped when we were talking about it. So, then we have no worries.

We just don't want them in the room and seeing the setup. That whole room is dedicated to the plants and our (marijuana) lifestyle you know? It's just too much to try and hide. But at least I can tell them to STAY OUTTA THERE!! Thanks Toker!! :peace: :joint:

Yeah definately. You are lucky you don't have to worry about that! Thanks man.
yea I am , and even in a traylor park or any where when a person owns their own place no one is aloud to go onto their property unless its for a really good reason , I'm starting to think owning farm land is what I wanna do

Ok...the main question seems to have been answered, but I caught a detail that stuck out at me.

you say when the light is on and the door is closed, you can see light from the cracks around the door? well what about at night, are you supplying a truly light-proof space?

I probably just missed something that explains this, just thought i'd point it out.

as for the exterminators, I agree with someone else, screw them, padlock your shit, they could be thieves for all you know and that is your space. dont give it a second thought, cuz they probably wont either.

Rent a small U-haul and get some wardrobe boxes, box up your plants put them in the u-haul. Drive somewhere are let them bask in the sun for a bit box em back up and put them back after the exterminator has left. It's kind of crazy but sounds fun kind of like that Weeds episode where they had to relocate the entire grow in one day before the fire marshal inspected.
