Ok i have 2 plants that are a indica strain they are 23 days old now and have 4 sets of leaves and look ok to me but they are not filling out like i think they should be they want to keep growing taller. All growth is at the top of the plants and they are up around 5" to 6" high now. They are in fox farms ocean forest soil with a 90 watt led lamp about 2 feet above them. I was told i put them in big pots way to early and i am sure i have done several other things wrong also i have not added any nutes yet and i only water them when my moisture meter says they need it. As soon as i can borrow a camera i will get some pictures of them. So someone please help here and tell me maybe what i can do to get these plants growing the way they should be.

I am a newbie who is currently in the middle of my second grow. I know next to nothing about LEDs but my understanding of plants stretching as opposed to filling out is they are reaching for the light. Anyway I'm sure people with more experience will be along soon and of course this is all just guessing without good images.

my guess and its only a guess is they are reaching for the light, bring the light closer. my other concern would be do you have enough light power. why a 90 watt led? and what lights are you planing on using?

90w led is not strong at all, coverage does be shit aswell, i have one. above posts are right 2 feet is way too high above them. get it too about 6-8 inches and stop the stretching.

I have another LED panel 180 watt I am planning on going to as soon as my tent gets here in a few days. With the living space I have and as hot as it is here there is no way I can go with something like HPS lights I have no way to vent the heat. So all I can do is up the watts on LED lights. I am going to move the light down and see if that helps the problem. Thanks for the input guy's and gal's and I am always open to suggestions I need the help thanks.

Are you sure there is absolutely no way? I'm saying this because I live in the Mojave Desert. Currently the days are easily over 100 and I don't air condition. I have a 600 watt HPS that I'm still running during the day (I'm considering moving to running at night once we are over 110 on average). But so far the grow room isn't significantly hotter than the rest of the house. So far nothing over 2 degrees different from the rest of the house. So about 84-86 at the hottest.

A good glass sealed hood with a powerful fan can solve the radiant energy from the bulb very effectively. Best of all add a charcoal filter and it will fix your smells too. I'm not growing in a tent this is just in a spare room and I put the fan in the crawl space for the attic.

A while back my house blew away in a tornado so for now i live in a rv. It is like living in a metal box when it hits a 100 outside even with the air on in here it will stay 85 to 90 without air 130 so i dont need extra added heat also been sick for a long time and the hotter it is the worse i feel that is the reason's i went with led lighting. I am going to move the light closer to the plant and see if it helps where i went wrong was at the start when i left them in dixie cups to long under a skylight in the bathroom and they were reaching for the light and got to tall to fast. So now i am looking for a way to get it to start filling out and stop growing taller. You or someone on here i hope may know how to do this i hope. Thanks for the reply and happy growing.

That i'm sure is another problem is the color of walls and floor i bought a tent that will be here on monday so i hope that helps. I have 2 - 35 watt i think about 2400 lumen lights i am going to put in the tent with them as soon as it gets here. The 2 plants look good just a little to tall so if i can get them to start growing out instead of up i think things would be fine. Thanks for the reply and i am going to add the lights.

If it seems to tall you can bury it deeper when you transplant to larger pot. and remember tall girls are pretty too

Get that light right on em!! Keep a fan moving air around them constantly to toughen up the stem.you won't get much of a yield with a light that small I would get some T5's to supplement the led if heat is a factor

@ bauty. New on here but I've been growing everything from veg n flower gardens to trees ( pun intended ). I never used led, but I can give this advice. Use cfl 6500k with as many lumens as possible. With these u can get nearly on top of them. Also with cfls u can use mirrors. With that said, build an enclosure with big mirrors just big enuff for yo plants. (make sure to control temp.) get a spray bottle cuz u want to keep them relatively moist. Keep the lights as close as possible!!! Keep the soil moist!!! 18/6 cycle. Mild fertilizer. (I mean mild)!!! Get pics asap!! Also get a small fan on them. O and u can never have too big of a pot. Just make sure to water entire soil in the pot!!
