So, a friend was going to try growing...but has proven to be an avid consumer who really isnt going to try growing.

From him I have a pack of Purple Thai (10) and a pack of Dreamberry (6) autos. 5x5 space.

Can I comfortably run all 16 in a 5x5? Any thoughts on layout or tips? My first auto run. I have a few photo runs under my belt.

Thank you.

This won't work. Send all that equipment to me. :P

But seriously. To answer your question, put simply the answer is yes.

It’ll be crowded but it’s doable. I run 18 plants in 5 gallon plastic grow bags on a 5x4 table. They’re all pushed together into a 4x4 space under the light.

Thx that helps a bunch. How much height do you need typically, or how much are you using? I would love to be able to grow them on tables and not on the floor!
My tables were originally like 16 inches off the ground but I quickly realized I'd run out of space so I chopped them down to like 8 inches on the high side. They slope to one corner down to 6 IIRC. That allows me to grow plants that are about 5 or 6 ft tall but they literally grow into my LED lights. I'll see if I can dig up a good picture from last run, current plants are only like 12" right now.

here are a few pics of my setup. First pic is from the last run. Think there were around 16 plants at the time. The trellis net is a 5x5 frame. Tried to bend everything to fit under the 4x4 frame of the lights. Second pic is current. There’s 18 plants squeezed under a 4x4. I couldn't imagine growing so many plants in a small space. Just curious, do you guys lollipop or heavily defol to fit all those in? I had a single auto in a 1mx50cm tent and it filled the whole tent in six weeks. Meanwhile my mates are growing six plants in a 2x4, same seeds and their plants are all half the size.

This was a heavily chopped auto at six, maybe 7 weeks from germ. Had to remove about 20 shoots from the bottom that were in darkness and touching the walls.

I'd love to grow a few strains in one tent, but tried to fit two plants in a 2x4 once and it was living hell lol. Plants running up the walls after 6 weeks, and most of the plants were in darkness. Do I need to brush up on my trimming and training? Or is there another way to keep plants short and bushy?

This was another plant at 6 weeks from germ in a 70x70, I don't see how I could have fit another in, let alone another 3. What's even crazier is most of the setups I see have four photos in an 80x80, with 6 weeks veg and a few weeks flower, and they are the same size my autos were after three weeks.

Pleas, let me in on your secrets. I need more than one strain per tent lol.

You vegged too long and too well to have a lot of plants. Shorter veg time makes smaller plants, you can fit a lot more that way.

I'd say with those autos that wasn't an issue...was three weeks of veg before popping pistils, which seems pretty short to me. How soon do people.generally switch to 12/12 with photos? I've heard 2-4 weeks is pretty average but I could be wrong.

Yes an auto is on autopilot, so to speak. The size of your container in that case would help limit size i.e. 3 gal max. 1 or 2 gal make a more vertical grow. Strain is a huge determinant in how large it grows too.

Photos it depends, they have to be mature enough to show sex to really flower so 4 weeks at least.

I want large well trained plants so I go about 9 weeks in veg to get to 10gal pots for flower.
