need help with when to top

so when does it stop being a seedling and become a plant in veg. also when should i,top them . they only have 3 leave still. 3-4 sets and growing strongI will have pics later they are in the dark cycle now. they came out of the dirt jan 8 and 15. thank everyone for there help

4 sets of true leaves sounds like a safe minimum for first pinching/topping. The most important thing to wait for is the vigorous growth that usually accompanies the 4th+ set of fan leaves. I hope this helps. Personally, I wait until each plant is strong enough to avoid stunting the growth. The size of the leaves/stem can also be a good indicator. Happy cultivating

here is what they look like 3 weeks and 4 weeks. they are starting to take off. Visible growth every day. I'm new to trying to top so they are probley to young.

Those are young for my taste, but ive seen some people start their routines when the first full leaves start.
