There are people here who hate LED lighting, especially blurple lights. Ignore them. As long as your light is sized appropriately to your grow are you'll be fine. People on this site will argue over anything. There's no specific right way to grow cannabis, there are many.
I don't know why anybody would purposely buy a blurple. I made that mistake too though. It's still in it's box.

You aren't the only one. Lol. I haven't tried flowering with them though. They work good for me to get a start over the winter.

I also use those 10 buck each, 4 foot Amazon LED tubes too.
They flower just fine. I use daylight in veg and warm white for flower. 14 Watt 1600 lumen bulbs. Last grow i ran 120 watts and yielded 60g dry from 4 weeks veg and 8 weeks flower with plants that never really stretched. Excited to see what my current grow yields. Currently at 4.5 weeks veg, 1.5 weeks flower and 2.5x stretch.

This is good to hear. Yeah, I try to use as many of the 1600 lumen ones, but I loaded up on a bunch of 800's when I caught a sale for a buck a bulb. Same- 5 to 6.5k for veg..... I do have a bunch of the 3k bulbs. Think I may give flower a shot on a couple plants.

This way seemed the most logical for me. (Until I step up to boards or whatever). I knew I'd drop a glass bulb, just screwing it in.... Lol

I have to assume you've read that mega thread on screw in bulbs. That's what got me to seriously consider, and then do it

I haven't read the thread on screw in bulbs. I'll search for it after i get through a few more pages of the SIP thread. I merely reviewed all the sources I could find relating to required and available spectrum - with a healthy dose of skepticism. I noted that for commercial LED grow lights, Samsung lm301b is the current preferred diode. The biggest factor in favor of lm301B is the efficiency, lumen/Watt. At least initially, it doesn't appear they are specifically binned for wavelength. I could be wrong on this, I'll have to give it another look. Given this, i saw no reason not to use household LEDs. I may be sacrificing a few lumens/Watt but I'm a small time hobbyist and more than make up for it on reduced sunk cost.

FYI, I initially got sucked in to the idea of using CFLs for budget grow lights. Blew $22 on CFLs before i realized the error of my ways. Definitely don't want to drop one of those.

Yup, I agree. Those purple lights actually grow decent plants if you've small enough space for them. I would aim for at least a spectrum that has some colors other than just red and blue, although, if you could help it.

Yeah, but for the money, cheap mars hydro are hard to beat. Screw in bulbs work just fine too. I use them for seedlings. About to make some bigger fixtures for vegging. Currently planning a 3 chamber perpetual. Going cheap cheap for now until.

I'm using a regular lamp with a 100 watt (equivalent) daylight led in the corner of my living room for fun. Here's a cut of my clone only Green Crack going now. It does get some daylight from the windows though.

I did the same thing with my 1st plant out of desperation. I went OD tho.. I wrapped foil around it like a covid bubble. It looked like some kid from space lost his toy and it landed on my dresser lol Fun times!
