Hello,
I need some help installing a exturnal monitor syncmaster 931bw samsung to my Macbook.

I think I need to install the drivers but when I go to Samsung they say Windows only.

So how can I install the drivers or how can I use the Monitor.

Peace-

U might have to downgrade just like this guy said...

I'm certain the last patch patch either 10.4.9 or security update has broken something for my Samsung displatw model SyncMaster 710v. After a re-instalation of the system software and using it for 2 days, everything was fine. After applying all the updates, it very quickly broke again on a resolution change as requested by a program that had literally done it thousands of times before pre 10.4.9.

Using dispalay overrides that wored both on 10.4.9 and earlier do noy help once it is busted. I will reinstall tonight agaiin and also use the display overrides along with resolution overrides to take the call out of the system's hands until apple releases a patch for it or 10.5. Whatever comes first.

As for your question Samsung moitors only run at 60hz. It is listed on their website, and again, I wish they'd get rid of that convention ald stick with just pixel updates. Pretty much all mdern displays have pixel updates faster than the brain/eye can preceive them. The threshhold being around 100 hz.

So I will not be able to use the monitor? I don't know all that much about computers.

What have you tried so far (let us know)?
In looking at the other posts, it seems (without delving too far), that there is no description file available for the monitor to use in your Mac. I'd go and do some googling and see what the Mac Geeks have to say.

Well I never tried install drivers on my monitor-you must be really stoned.

I went to the Mac store and bought a mini dvi to dvi then connected it to a dvi that was connected to the monitor. I then went to the system pref and looked for (detected monitors) non pop up. I then put in the disk that came with the monitor and looked for start up, install, and the only one that I found that would open was a html and this took me to Samsung site. At the bottom of the page there is a icon that says drivers I then clicked on it. At that time it stated that I could not download drivers and only Windows would allow me to download.

That is about it. I have hooked the monitor to a dell lab top and it worked fine. But the drivers were downloaded.

Peace-
