new and need some help on lighting and where to start

i am thinking of starting to grow ...

i used to grow alittle as a kid outside ...

what i was wondering was ... i have seen all this new info out about led lights . i am looking for something cheap to grow a few in my attic . there is alot on ebay that seem to be pretty cheap .

what color leds do i want ? how many leds do i want ? any one know where i can get some seed ??? cheap

i was hopeing to start out small till i get the hang of it .

you should really check out the FAQ on the homepage. Those are some basic questions that you'll have no trouble finding. My understanding (and I could be wrong) is that the LED growing is new and there isn't a lot of info on how well it works for the marijuana plant. For cheap lights that WILL grow thru all stages you'll be looking at CFL (compact flurescent lighting) and/or T5HO (High Output). The spenders and serious growers will instead use lights such as ML (metal halide) and HPS (high pressure sodium). Daylight aka blue spectrum (6500 kelvin) lights are best for the seedling thru vegetation stage and red spectrum (3000 kelvin) are best for the flowering stage. A lot of people on here seem to pick up seeds from Nirvana. I had no complaints with amsterdammarijuanaseedbank.com

so if i got 400 watt MH ... how many plants could i grow with that much lighting at once ??? thanks

if you have a reflector and containers that aren't too big (but they need to be big enough) you could grow 3+ plants under that one light. The MH lamp is top notch for vegging but not recommended for flowering
