New Arizer Solo Mod

First post on grasscity, shared this on 420magazine forum, 150 views later and not a single response. Thats not the kind of forum I'm looking to be a part of. Anyway, I've been doing a lot of r&d with the arizer solo and I have some nice hints/tips/mods to share with you all. Before I type up everything I want to share my favorite mod.

For this mod to be the most effective you have to grind your bud up VERY fine. I load my grinder and hold it upside down and grind, shake, grind, repeat until it looks like about 25% keif with the rest still very fine.

If you own a solo there's a pretty good chance you already put a screen in your stem(s) to keep the pull through/scoobs out of your mouth. I messed with different screen setups and came up with a mod that allows you to use less bud, vape longer, and get just as high (I think higher).

I run a dual screen setup which essentially acts as a dual chamber bowl. Heres what you do: run a fine screen (smaller holes) in the bottom of the stem. Fill the stem to only about 15% full with the finest ground (mostly keif) bud.

While browsing lowes I came across some garden hose filters which can be found in the plumbing section in a pack of 3 for like $2.79. Whats great about these is that they are designed to be inside a garden hose so they're stainless steel. They have to be cut and shaped a little but what makes these so different is that they are dome shaped. Place the second screen in the stem/bowl over the finely ground bud. Make sure that there is plenty of empty space between the bud on the bottom and the "inside" of the dome shaped screen. Here is a pic of the stem loaded with the finely ground weed and the dome shaped screen on top of it:
As you can see the dome screen takes up a lot of space inside the bowl so you can use far less weed. Afterward fill the bowl the rest of the way so it looks like this.
This creates a dual chamber bowl, you get a lot more air flow and circulation. I've used the dual screen setup a few times now and every time its simply amazing. I weigh out an allowance of 0.3g of bud each day and I can pack the bent stem bowl about 4-6 times. One stem makes me feel amazing, 2 stems and I'm SAILING!!

What else is great about this...after learning how to use the solo I could usually vape the full 12 minutes (auto shutoff is 12 min) before it was kicked. With this setup you're still blowing decently flavored clouds when it shuts off. Now I turn it back on and vape another 3-5 minutes before its done.

It's great! I set the solo on 3 and vape away, then turn it up to 4. By this time pull out the stem and observe your bud. The top layer will be nicely browning while the stuff on the bottom will still be green. Its almost as if you get to vape 2 bowls...at the same time near the end. Slowly kick up the temperature every 2-5 pulls (depending on how big they are).

Anyone who has experience with the solo will know that by now the vape is starting to get thinner and thinner. With this setup you'll be surprised when 8-10 minutes in you're still pulling some pretty thick vapor.

I have some more thoughts, hints, tips for the solo that I will share later. Hopefully you guys/girls can try it and tell me what you think.

I was on grasscity. It was my 1st forum I joined. Needless to say I got banned. But I deserved it so I'm not upset. Plus it lead me to this place! I love RIU. Such cool people, with only a few exceptions.

Cool mod btw.

He's right ,The solo does blow ( pretty much any portable out of the water) the only thing the solo lacks compared to other portables is stealth. Here ya go http://fuckcombustion.com/ this is by far the best site for vapes and edibles, go to the portable section and see all the mods and threads done on different units and I think you'll find the solo is the most popular of portables! I run mine thru water all the time also, they have o-ring mod's you can do also, as well as modifying stems for better air flow.

It's stupid shit like this that cause people to make bad purchase decisions! Granted everyone has a right to their own opinion, I have not come across a single review or comparison that says the pax ploom has more or better vapor than the solo. Actually every review I have ever read favors the solo for it's vapor production and vapor quality.

Example, Toronto Vaporizers did a solo vs ploom showdown and here is what they had to say about the vapor:
Winner: Hands down and without a doubt, the Solo by Arizer takes the cake in this category. Arizer poured all of their energy into ensuring the Solo offers the best vapour quality imaginable in a portable. And their efforts paid off because it is considered to be the Volcano of portables in the vapour quality category.

Vape Critic Said: The Solo vaporizer by Arizer is pretty cool, and along with the Pax I think it’s one of the best portable vapes currently available
Knowyourvapes.com said: This is definitely in my mind the hardest hitting portable vaporizer, even being able to rival some home unit vaporizers in terms of vapor output. The quality of the vapor is amazing as well. The taste, like vapor amount, also rivals some stationary vaporizers.

blows clouds around this?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=4SHyOuZV9F8

So it leads me to believe that you either don't have the slightest clue how to use your solo or you don't even own one. Anyone considering the solo don't listen to this guy he's just vomiting shit out of his mouth. Plus I paid $130 for my solo, how much is the pax again? $300+?

I run mine thru water all the time also
Before I tried it I thought pulling vapor through glass/water was completely ridiculous. Tried it once and I haven't vaped without some type of glassware/water since...it's really that good.

Awww, the new guy is a little grumpy.:-(

Ill upload some pics of both my Pax and my Solo.

Some observations: see all that material accumulated on the inside of OP's Stem? Thats what happens when you design a vape with a glass stem with pass-through holes that are far too big: all your plant matter gets pulled through these aforementioned holes, usually just gunking up the stem, but occasionally ending up in your mouth. Not too mention all of the stems are handblown, so naturally theyre not consistent and dont all fit snuggly all of the time. How epic.
If Im spending money on a quality vape, I dont think it should require "Mods." (Not that folding a piece of a metal screen and sticking it in your stem is much of a mod)
The device should work flawlessly right out of the box.

My lady and I have had our Pax for a couple months now. The thing functions flawlessly without any ridiculous hose-screen "mods," and the vapor is of higher quality.

Killer Mod though homes!

Wow, great review, unbiased, factual, and a nice side by side to back it up.
Wait, that was the other guy. I like the post with actual information, it's a lot more... "informative" than your angry little response.

Looks nice I will give this a try too
What kind of fine screen is it. where did you get it?

So far i have been using fine grounded stuff between a small piece of cotton and its not so nice.
First few times i pretty much had bud sucked up in my mouth.
