New grow space, ventilation questions.

Hello all

I've been constracting my own grow box. A 1m X 0.8m X 1.5m . I got some silly questions about ventilation (i include pics).

1. Which side of the vent is taking air in and which side is blowing air out? :)

2. Where do i connect the carbon filter? at the side it takes air in or at the side it blows air out?

3. The ventilation is 400m3, is it enough? It has 125mm openings, should i make a 125mm hole at the bottom for fresh air, or should i make it bigger or smaller?

I know these r noobish questions, but this is the newb central after all :)

Thanx in advance for any answers

I'm going by your second picture, the arrow pointing up represents air flow, so the fans intake would be on the left and the exhaust is on the right. The carbon filter should be attached to the intake ...do you ahve pictures of the grow box? maybe then i'd be able to be more helpful.

Make the carbon filter filter the ehcuast air.. So the air coming out first hits the filter before the atmosphere(outside growbox). The holes should be exactly or a slight bigger and the inlet and outlet of u fan turbine. So if its 4 inches and ur whole fan case is 6 inches make it 4...

Like morphus says - the arrow indicates the air flow direction. you can connect the carbon filter either way. They are actually designed for air to get pushed through it but i use mine to filter the air BEFORE exhausting it - but like i said -it doesn't really matter.

you should be able to exhaust the air in your entire grow room 1-3 times a minute. Your 400m3 rated fan is more than enough! you might suck your plants out with that one. your passive air intake hole should be slightly larger than your exhaust and multiple holes are better (and easier to light proof/filter) than a single large hole.

IS IT possible to use your carbon filter as a scrubber? what i mean is taking the air strait from your cooltube duct to outside the box through a carbon filter back INTO the box. Would that work? or would it just create an oven in your grow hut? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can do it if you want a completely stealthy grow (no visible carbon filter on the outside. But if you are going to do that - i would use a fan to bring fresh air into the box at least and keep an eye on the temps. i'd do it this way only if you have to ...

now what you can do is put the carbon filter on the inside and attach it to the exhaust filter so the air coming out doesn't smell (it would still be warm though).
