New Grower - Minimal equipment - trying 1 seed at a time

Hi all, I have recently ordered some White Rose seeds and am eager to get into this pasttime of growing cannabis indoors. I have very minimal equipment at the moment as you can see (attached pictures of my current grow lights available, edit: just wanted to add that both of these lights are 75 watt although the one with the metal casing does get a bit warm while the tube light stays relativity cool). I'm planning on trying this operation 1 seed at a time so I can gain the most experience over time.

Just have some concerns - are my lights going to be good enough to grow a plant indoors? What if any method do you guys recommend, I have coffee filtered seeds successfully to get them to germinate and am comfortable doing that for these seeds as well. Are there any surefire warning signs you can offer an extreme newbie to prepare for or steer clear of on his first growing adventure?

Also have one other question, has anyone tried to wintersow cannabis seed? (http://www.wintersown.org/wseo1/How_to_Winter_Sow.html)

yea... Get your self some CFL's and do some research.... It will take a while for you to get the hang of it. But practice makes perfect.

get ur self a fixture at lowes that has like 2 or 3 light socket's and put compact flourescent in it (cfl bulbs). use like 60 watt equivalent, any higher and u will have a lot of heat. these bulbs are cheap, like $1.50 per bulb and last like 7000 hours. ur fine with ur starter cups and soil. looks like pre-mix. keep the bulbs from direct contact, with ur plants and add a few more when they get bigger. jus keep raising them up and add more. if you don't want to use any other lights (i mean purchase) the one flouro tube will be fine, but u will have a small yeild. this is ur first and learn from it. remember, necessity spawns creativity. have fun and good luck!

wtf is the difference between incandescent and florescent, the box said for indoor growing i dont get it

Yeah, incandescent is not very efficient for this purpose. Think it's only for making the plants look pretty in the light. CFL's (6500k range for veg sometimes labeled Daylight and 2700k for flowering sometimes labeled Warm white/Soft white) is the way to go or even flourescent.

CFLs are way cheap and work pretty good plus you will get no results from a incandescent. Waste of money. Sorry! You need to germ at least 3 beans to get a female out of the batch for sure. If you use tap water add pond water detox to remove the bad stuff and check your ph to make sure its right. Dont over fert it causes deficencys and dont over-water it kills the roots. Have Fun!

SO I need to germ 3 seeds together to get a bud producing plants? What a bust! At 11 seeds for 60 bucks this could be a lot more expensive than I thought...

Those aren't grow lights love, they're plant lights. If you look it says they make plants "look" greener. That's because of the blue coating. They are gonna heat stress and stretch your plant.http://www.doityourself.com/invt/5294350 They are incandescent. THIS is what you want.http://electrical.hardwarestore.com/13-41-compact-fluorescent/ge-spiral-compact-fluorescent-130127.aspx Veg with those, flower with these.http://electrical.hardwarestore.com/13-41-compact-fluorescent/ge-soft-white-spiral-bulb-130132.aspx

Just for the record, you CAN grow with incandescents, athough usually too hot for its usefulness, how do you think the pioneers of indoor growing got started??? they certainly weren't using LED spaceships and HO flouro tubes.
Having said that, its not going to be worth the trouble of using that "plant" light. The tubes will be fine, but return that thing and get yourself a hps or mh security light, or some CFLs. Also read the growfaq, its a wealth of information.
anyhow good luck, and if possible consider swapping those cups out for something opaque, roots will not form as well when exposed to light.
