New Recirculating DWC Hydro Setup with 357 Magnum Grow LEDS

Well here it goes.... This is my first grow journal so hopefully I can figure out how to set it up right the first time around.

I'm growing using a new LED light called the 357 Magnum. So far I've seen good results with them using soil....So I want to do one using a hydro setup.

LED Specs: 357 watt power (180watt actual draw) 11 spectrum with spectrum control. 1 Button turns on veg 1 button turns on flower LEDS you can even run both for full spectrum. Also contains IR and UV spectrum to help with stretching and growth of mildew, mold, etc. Uses 3watt crees.

I chose to go with the Secret Jarden DR150 Pro II grow tent as it seemed like the best quality tent for my buck. The tent specs are 5x5x6.5ft. The tent quality is awesome and so far after closing off extra vents is completely light tight out of the box

For the hydro setup I went with a 5 5 gallon bucket setup with one of the buckets being the res. So I will be growing 4 large plants in this hydro setup. Depending on my yield I might add more buckets and bigger res in the future. My res has a pump that top feeds each bucket. The roots grow down into the aerated nutrient solution in bottom of container. There is also an air stone in each bucket.

As far as nutrients go, I'm currently looking into using General Hydroponics to fill that need.

Just so you know too this is being attempted in an apt. I will have ducting and carbon filters set up any day to handle the smell issue =)

Subscribed...gonna be interesting to see these lights from start to finish. Website looks ultra sketchy though, with no info on warranty. Pullin up a chair with the peace pipe..

Good to have you. I expect some good results with my current level of knowledge. I have seen a few results with these leds and was impressed. I can't wait to see how much yield I can get out of this light. I will be picking up a mother plant from a friend's dispensary in LA of a rare OG strain unique to his shop. Pics will be posted this weekend of mother. Still deciding on a good yielder strain to do also. Any requests or ideas?

Don't worry they are legit. I got my light in like 3 days. Way faster than i had expected. When I was first looking into the site they didn't even have credit card support. They added it and i purchased light without any problems. They have been more than helpful answering my questions and I plan on odering another light soon =)

Sorry got home late last night. I ended up not needing a DIY cloner as I was hooked up with a botanicare 45 site aero cloner =) Got my mothers in my tent for now recovering from the move and picking up nicely already. I just ordered another smaller tent that i will eventually move my mothers to so I can use the big tent for veg and cloning for now. I eventually plan on buying another secret jarden tent that i will eventually use to veg and clone then I will use the 5x5 tent for flowering.

So I got 2 mothers from a grower friend in LA called Tech's OG. I smoked some of the harvest my friend had and it was super dank. He said it's the best og strain from LA and it's been grown by my friend for over 10 yrs. Ill be taking clones in the next day or so and will post pictures

Ok So here's an update finally. My dwc got damaged during shipping so instead I'm using smart pots. Smart pots are an aerated bag that you use instead of a bucket. The air flows thru to roots and promotes strong healthy root growth without root bound. I'm using sunshine mix #4 with perlite added. I'm currently using a blend of General Hydroponics nutes with RO water. I'm currently cloning 6 of the ogs from my moms and am currently 3 days into veg with 6 sr-71 purple kush plants. I went from clone to a 5 gallon bag. I filled the bag about a third full then after 3 days i shaved the sides of the stem then added rooting hormone to exposed area then immediately buried the area with clean soilless mix and covered with top with a layer of perlite to reflect light. The roots are already growing out of the sides that I shaved and this will eliminate the need to go from a 3 gallon to a 5 gallon. My friend showed me this and his stems grew fat and the plant yielded higher. I guess we will see how it works out for me.
