New to this and could use some guidance.

Hey All,

Looking to switch from smoking flower to concentrate. With the carts I've gotten from the dispensaries I'm not a fan of the heavy terpine "hit" and would like to avoid vg/pg is possible.

I've read through a few pages and am still a little unsure of direction.

At this point the simplest process for me is qwet.

Once the plant is harvested and dried, do I still need to jar cure it before processing?

Once the alcohol is evaporated, what is the left over product called? My coffee pot warmer keeps the pot at 174F, is that enough to evaporate the alcohol? If I do this outdoors, should I cover the bowl used with cheese cloth or anything to keep contaminates out?

Lowest cost option for alcohol reclamation? Everclear 190 is not available here, so I have to drive a little over an hour to the next state. I have 151 here, but either way is about $15 a 5th.

If I'm planning to vape/smoke the concentrate, do I need to decarb before the extraction? I'm thinking no.

At this time I have 2 options for smoke/vape. Either add the concetrate to flower in the bong bowl and smoke, or mix with flower in an Airizer Air II and vape. I stopped using the Air II awhile ago since the bowl is so small and takes to long to vape 2-3 fills of flower only. Ideally, I would like to be able to vape the straight concentrate due to only needing a hit or two and travel portability.

Thanks.

I’ll try to remember to post up some more info later, but for ethanol reclamation on a personal level, can’t beat the Source Turbo. And for consumption of concentrates quickly, easily, and with the ease of travel, I absolutely recommend the Puffco Peak, easily one of my best purchases. You can also slightly modify the Peak with after-market glassware, carb-caps, and dishes. Both are fairly high price equipment but serve their purpose fantastically. If you are willing to put some additional money into the Peak, you can get a nice Ruby quartz or Silicone Carbide (I LOVE mine, havnt tried the ruby) dish insert to improve taste, and reduce consumption.
Anyhow, both are a bit pricey, but entirely worth the price tag.

I pull the fan leaves and hang the plant until the small stems snap, about 5 days, and then freeze it for QWET extraction.

QWET typically produces a pull and snap shatter.

174F is too hot. I suggest a shallow dish and no hotter than 125/135F.

151 proof has too much water for a quality extract. You can remove more of the water in a pot still and reduce it further using Drierite.

No need to decarb before vaping.

That's how I dried my current plants. Pulled all the fan leaves then cut/hung the whole plant. Temp in dry tent was ~68F and humidity was 60-62%. I trimmed and jarred a little last night and in jar humidity was 61% this morning.

I plan to use 190 proof, but would like an affordable (non-diy equipment) way to recover and reuse since its over an hour drive to get it as well as about $15/bottle.

The current plants have a decent amount of popcorn buds unfortunately. Should I "cut up" or grind these before mixing with the leaf trim?
