What is the political climate in INDIANA ? Is it likely to make it thru the Senate and has the governor said he'd sign it?

The governor has said for years it was dems why it wasnt med available in the first place. Were a 60/40 republican/dem state. He has said once it passes senate he will sign into law same day.

I hope it passes the senate. ::fingers crossed::

The more states that implement medical marijuana laws the stronger our position. Go Hoosiers! :D

I feel the same way.
Really? Why are pharmacutical opiates illegal to non-prescription holders? Why is medical grade Heroin illegal without a prescription?

I am not sure MMJ will lead to legalization the way you hope.

Helping those in need is more important than getting high just for funs sake. Once it is an accepted medicine and people see it is not some harmful drug like many others then it will not be so difficulty to legalize for recreational use.

Medical Marijuana does lead to legalization..it basically is legalization..I can drive in any direction a few miles and buy seeds/clones or whatever and I don't even need to show my card or something, people just expect everyone has a card.

because given no restraints on its use it can lead to a untimely death. That and the fact that shared needles are the number one contributor to HIV contraction. Marijuana is one of the safest substances known to man. Safer than aspirin.

Politics and government is about power and control.

You are trying to apply logic to an illogical situation.

http://www.in.gov/legislative/bills/2012/IN/IN1370.1.html

I read through this and was wondering?? If I am reading this right it is saying that Medical Card Holders and Dispensary and Dispensary workers are protected from prosecution of possession of Marijuana obtained from Dispensary's... I see no where that it says anything about growing Marijuana... When Michigan's Bill first came up it had all of that worked out in it. I see also that there are sections for protecting THC testing facility's... So does anyone think that they are leaning towards State run Dispensary's?? Kind of like State Run liquor stores? ... I gotta wonder why there is no mention of cultivation..

Or is cultivation just lumped onto possession.. and if so is that saying Indiana ppl can have unlimited amounts??

"SOURCE: IC 35-48-4-11; (12)IN1370.1.4. --> SECTION 4. IC 35-48-4-11, AS AMENDED BY P.L.138-2011, SECTION 17, AND AS AMENDED BY P.L.182-2011, SECTION 17, IS CORRECTED AND AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2012]: Sec. 11. (a) A person who:
(1) knowingly or intentionally possesses (pure or adulterated) marijuana, hash oil, hashish, salvia, or a synthetic cannabinoid;
(2) knowingly or intentionally grows or cultivates marijuana; or
(3) knowing that marijuana is growing on the person's premises, fails to destroy the marijuana plants;
commits possession of marijuana, hash oil, hashish, salvia, or a synthetic cannabinoid, a Class A misdemeanor. However, the offense is a Class D felony (i) if the amount involved is more than thirty (30) grams of marijuana or two (2) grams of hash oil, hashish, salvia, or a synthetic cannabinoid, or (ii) if the person has a prior conviction of an offense involving marijuana, hash oil, or hashish, salvia, or a syntheticcannabinoid.
(b) The crime of possession of marijuana, hash oil, or hashish under subsection (a) does not apply to a:
(1) person who is a registered medicinal marijuana cardholder under IC 35-48-8;
(2) medicinal marijuana dispensary under IC 35-48-8; or

(3) registered medicinal marijuana dispensary employee acting in the capacity as a medicinal marijuana dispensary employee."

Seems to be pretty strong words on a Bill.. I sure hope it passes.. :)

There is a rogue government in place. Natural rights have been and continue to be usurped with any prohibition that says what an individual may or may not consume. All the other arguments fail to strike the root.

Cos it's a filthy, addictive, killer drug? Weed is only a little worse than a cigarette even to the most conservative scientist.
Tobacco is the leading cause of death, followed by alcohol, cannabis kills zero. Get facts at DRUGWARFACTS.COM.
