hey i was wondering if the New Wave T5 - 24 (2ft-4 lamp) or the New Wave T5 - 28 (2ft 8lamp) floro would be enough light for 2 dwarf plants all the way threw? obviously the 8 lamp would do better but im wondering if the 4 lamp would do? any one ever try these?

I would be inclined to buy the 8 bulb. I use a four foot 8 bulb over three of my tables right now, one of them is where i put rooted clones. When you first start them you can just have 1/2 of the fixture on, as the plants get bigger and transplanted turn on all eight, weed out the males, you will have a decent yield. VV

I have run the New Wave T5's from germination through harvest for two grows and am starting the 2nd week of flowering on my 3rd. I have two of the 2 ft. 4 lamp with mixed bulbs; 2 (3200k) & 2 (6500k) in each one from start to finish.

My setup is a 24 in. x 30 in. closet in hydro dwc and waterfarms so I can flower only 2-3 at a time with the size of the plants. I grow the girls from seed to plant for 8 weeks then into flower. I have some pretty big girls.

I am very pleased with the T5 results so far. I normally get 70+ grams per plant dry. Not the densest buds, but decent.

Here are some pics of the T5 setup and Dutch Dragon and Strawberry Cough grow. Most excellent smoke.

I agree with this. The 2 bulb is going to spread the light into areas that the plant won't be using. A tighter (shorter 2' or 4') fixture with more bulbs will give you better intensity. Try to keep the light the same size/shape as the area that your canopy will cover.

For 2 plants, I'd consider the 2' 4 bulb if you want to keep them small, or the 4' 8 bulb if you're looking for some big bushes.

I'd also consider some CFLs or better yet t5ho single bulb strip lights for side lighting. It will significantly increase your yield and lower bud density. t5's run cooler and produce more usable light than a shitload of cfls.

The key to flouro's is to keep the lighting close to your canopy. Side lighting gets the lower stuff, the tight top light gets the top.

Definitely consider (as knally stated) mixing red and blue bulbs in these systems, or switching from all blue to all red at 12/12.

I would go with 2 of the 4 bulb rather than one 8 bulb. At least for me it works better. Having two lights lets me adjust a light as close to the canopy as I can. Look at my first picture posted; there is nearly two feet difference in the height of my two girls. With a single 8 bulb T5 I couldn't position the light very well to cover both girls. With the two separate 4 bulb ones I can lower the light each side of my closet right down to the top of the tallest girl. Tall plants to the left, short ones to the right. That's what works for me.

4 bulb overhead and 2 single bulbs on the sides horizontally to help the lower ends of the plants... i've been very pleased with results
