Yeah the PCK and Deep chunk landraces are very nice to look at. The Kush mountain range has the best indicas in the world!.
Definitely start your malawis, easy to grow so far.

Letstip: Your plant's looking healthy and looks like they could go ouside by the end of the month but I looked at the weather and it looks like a shit storms coming :(.
Yeah we got 2,535 hours in 2011 I think. It will be real interesting to see how many hours we got this year!.

Malawi clones rooted and transplanted (Roots like a motherfucker btw)
Panama seedlings.

I don't know when I can put my plants out because I looked at metservice and it says it's raining for the next 10 days :( I hope they're wrong.

Hey CK your dead right its looking rainy in my area right up until next Thursday and possibly beyond that according to met service but Ill wait and see. Another question: At what point do I start to give the plant nutrients for vegging? And what blend or brands do you recommend that I can get locally and how often will it have to be put on? There seems to be so many different options over the internet. I understand its something along the lines on NPK right?

Here is a little update of how its doing some of the pictures have flash on and others without, day 18:

yeah but that could easily change, no one can predict the weather 10 days from now. I usually just chuck the plants outside with no prior feeding(being real small) and then once in the ground I give them a light feed with nutrients and put a table spoon of rain crystals in about a foot or so down. In veg you want nutrients that have a high nitrogen ratio to phosphorus and potassium because nitrogen boosts the plants upward growth. You can use fully organic stuff like worm castings, chicken manure etc or you can use liquid nutrients such as earth juice which is organic too. Fermented grass clippings is really good for your plants too, my african plants last year that were germinated in the first week of december! would have ended up 12 ft+ from being pure sativas and the grass clippings would of helped too but they were too out of control for my backyard so I had to take them down.

Indoor I use rockwool medium with 2 part(A and B) nutrients such as growzilla/budzilla if they're on fully automatic feeding but if I'm hand watering I use this 1 part and an organic additive DSC00806.jpg

Your plant looks like it can go out soon.

Alright thanks mate! Woah 12 foot damn huge! Awesome stuff. Think I might get a basic liquid or pellet NPK fertilizer preferably higher in nitrogen and some rain crystals if I can. I have alot of grass clippings and other vegetable scraps in a compost heap thats been adding up since the start of the year, maybe that would help if I took a bit along when I plant it and mix it around with the regular soil? Anyway yeah hopefully the weather clears up and I can plant it within the next week or two.

- Cheers Ill keep you updated

Yeah I think my malawis will be really tall this year, they start flowering in the middle of feb giving 3 or more weeks veg time and il be expecting them to finish early may.
I have a feeling this weed will shock a few people with its potency, african genetics are a whole new game bro - most underrated marijuana genepool. Yeah that compost sounds good. I reckon you should chuck it out 2 days before the weather gets better to get it used to the environment without the intensity of 25 degree blasting days lol.

I know it's early to tell but it look like your plant has indica in it, should finish off good in your climate. Please don't harvest early like half of nz'ers do :joint:. when you think its ready, harvest it 1 week later. Shes still got a nice season ahead of her and I bet 10 ft+ depending on the stretch and sunlight hours per day. My panamas and malawis are gonna be monsters.

http://www.herbiespicknmixseeds.com/single-pick-n-mix-ace-malawi-feminised-seeds-3113 - most reliable distributor I've used. 8 day order to arrival or less. No you have to, not maybe lol - it's way too good to not try.

The breeders say it is the strongest sativa they have come across to date!, that says a lot coming from a landrace based company. I think they are alright up to 42 degrees latitude, dunedin, gore and invercargil etc couldn't grow Malawi, Christchurch further upward on the east side would grow this strain ok.

Hope your Malawis get nice and tall mate!! 10ft plus would be amazing haha Cant wait to see how yours do I bet its some damn good smoke, will probably put a few people on there ass by the sounds of it . Id love to grow them one day, might have to be next seasons project. That sounds like a good idea putting it out a couple of days before some decent weather to let them get used to it ill do that. Its spent a couple of nights outside as I haven't been able to tend to because I wasn't home.

This weathers really annoying it hasn't done alot of growing in the last couple of days because its been cloudy and wet but not overly cold. But still some when its been under the light. Just checked met service for my area and Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are looking sunny then the rest of the week is looking wet but Ill have to wait becasue the predictions always change. Crossing my fingers for sun!! Got 28 - 29 degrees a few days back surprisingly and some good 25's.

Yeah defiantly has indica in it or mainly indica from what I can see so far. Hopefully it is and will do a bit better in this climate. And I defiantly wont harvest to early (Thats if its a female). Ill post pictures etc so hopefully I will get some feedback at that point ;-) Also Ive noticed that the roots are just starting to appear out of the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot should I plant it into a bigger pot or just leave it? It was planted fairly far down because it was long and stretchy stem.

- Cheers everyone

crazykiwi420 - I wouldn't have guessed you could get Earth Juice nutes down there - kickass! what's a litre of grow or bloom cost down there? I'm looking forward to seeing how your Malawi does for sure - I agree that African genes are somewhat unknown still, not talked about or circulated very much where I've been - Durban Poison would be about it. good times

Oh Don't you worry mate, they are going to be monsters!. I've got too many cuttings I think because I can only do a couple outdoors now. Yeah I think it will be the strongest stuff I've ever had lol or close to :bigjoint:. I'm going to make some feminised seeds that I could send to you, my plans are a Taskenti x Malawi, Panama x Malawi and maybe a poly hybrid of the 3.(F1's too making extra vigour)

Yeah the weather is changing its mind like a woman changes clothes for gods sake! wow those are some extremely high temps for the end of spring!, yeah I've been getting mid 20's consistently and the lows are really high too - I only get down to 13 degrees at the lowest, my weather is the same as yours being fine up til tuesday/wednesday but 2 days ago it was meant to rain all weekend!, bullshit forecasts mate.

It's probably too early to tell, in my experience I have had a lot of pure sativas have broadleaves up til about a month or so and then the start thinning out. You'll be able to judge in a month and hopefully it shows some preflowers for you to see the sex.

Panamas and malawis to go outside by the end of next week when the weather fines up. Yeah good man, nothing worse than fast dried early outdoor bud like a lot of stuff that's in tinny houses.

Chuck some pics up, no point transplanting if it's going outside soon.

At switched on gardener we can only get the the catalyst, microblast and meta k for potassium. The 5 litre catalyst additive is $195

Yeah there's only a few africans that have been explored like malawi, durban and swazi. There's so many more strains there it's crazy but a lot of them have been lost from governments spraying crops with that blue stuff - happened to swazi in the early 2000's and most of the red haired phenos were lost.

Awesome stuff cant wait! Mate some feminized seeds would be brilliant Id love a few if you end up doing it!! Sounds delicious :bigjoint: Your dead right about the weather changing its clothes like a woman!! Which is alot haha But yea those are very high temps those were according to met service. Temps have dropped away a bit now though into the 20 - 23's. Also got a tone of wind! Last couple of days have been sunny thankfully. Plant was out side day and night for Friday and Saturday day and night because I wasnt home and the stem has really hardened up alot in just those couple of days! Just checked met service and its saying 24 for today ( Monday) and 26 - 26 and 28 for the following days! Also says plenty of rain but wouldn't trust it at this stage. You got much better overnight lows we are getting in between 10 - 15 overnight on average.

Ah well thats cool cant wait to see if its sativa or indica but either way I don't mind I think its leaning towards the indica at the moment but like you said well have to wait and see. Got my first two 7 leaves which youl see in the photos. Im currently on day 23 and things are still going good, getting some nice growth through the stem and it has has really hardened up from being outside. Also some new growth coming out of the is it "nodes" Or "internodes" ? Anyway youl see in the pictures. Also how much sun does the plant really need when it goes outdoors? Because the spot I was thinking of putting may not have the best sun but Ill have to see I think I got another spot up my sleeve. Your plants going out this week CK?

Anyway cheers guys here is some pictures of progress so far :leaf:

Wont let me eddits so note: Leaves are sagging a bit as I had just taken them out of the darkness.

Oh good, I'm glad it wasn't any kind of problem with the leaves. Looks like she's ready to go. Yeah the temps are dropping off in the day but not at night!, I'm getting 15-18 degree lows and sometimes can't sleep with the blanket lol. I'm gonna put my clones out later in the week when it's raining, still haven't fully hardened them off and can't handle the sunlight yet.

The panamas should be ready to go out too, the Taskentis are rooting at the moment and will have to be a late plantation but that's all good when you have 5 landrace sativas! bring back the old school genetics to new zealand I say!, Those landrace sativas that got bought over here in the 70's is what made NZ famous for such good weed :weed:
The plant probably needs at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight in veg because that will decrease at the end of the season by a couple hours.

I will upload photos later on today.

CK,

Whats with the Panama touching that pot to the left?
Are you rooting it in a second pot? Getting a cutting from a cutting??

I do that with woody shrubs. Good way to spread them.

I have 3 panamas that decided to start growing sideways lol, they barely sit above the medium but the are actually tall.

I hope I get the red/pink pheno of panama from the old days

Yeah I think its defiantly ready to go! Woah your getting real nice lows at night awesome. Think im going to put it out on Sunday or Monday for mine id say I agree bring back that famous old school weed of the 70's!!

My plant is staying out side permanently now and im not using the CFL because its in an awkward potion and the plants getting to big haha So night and day its outside and at night it sags right down but obviously becasue not light. Anyway this morning the plant was looking more perked up but the leaves as of now are looking a little low? Ill post some pictures. The stems and things are looking okay but the middle to top leaves are looking a little low let me know what you think? I managed to tip in over a day or two ago and break the stem a little and the little leaf on the side however its still looking fine and isn't mayor (Youll see in the pictures). I thought maybe it could be to do with stress from that or it cant handle the sun yet or root bound im not sure?

Also one more thing theirs slight discoloration on the leaves it looks like something munching on it or something and its slowly spreading, check the pictures. Need some feedback. I think im going to transplant it tonight just in case. The pot is quite small and I think it needs to happen because it wont be until Sunday or Monday that it is planted outdoors.

Ck your plants are looking damn nice!!!

- Cheers guys
