makes me wana buy sum lights looking at that looking mean bro how much longer are u guna give them?
go get some lights man. you will never look back. nothing quite like having a big herb garden right there in your house so you can spend all the time in the world with them. i would do more outdoor too though if my circumstances were different but for me indoor is more practical.

Yeah I've seen that thc bomb, too much marketing bullshit with that strain and no clear genetics so I didn't end up getting it - I've seen good and bad reports from tht thc bomb.
So the other 3 are females? I reckon you should just breed the 2 pounder with a pure sativa if you get some lights, Malawi x 2 pounder would be ultimate for this climate and then you can call it 4 pounder lol. Straight up, Malawi is the healthiest best growing plant I've grown outside and is extremely resistant to high winds like the 2 pounder and is pretty much water proof being pure sativa.
bigger yield potential outside than most other strains.

I'm keen to breed with kiwi seeds, I wonder what that White Island strain is like. They definitely have some good strains like Mako Haze.

Has anyone grown with led's?, my flower room has 2x 600 hps and a 180w led in the middle. Have been getting some good results with this setup.

That 2 pounder is usually out of stock, It's meant to be a 75 day sativa strain known in the far north lol.

hey cooper12, the 9v battery and rods work fine, just be sure to clean the crud off the rods every couple hours, if you want to boost the ppms filer it through a paper towel to et the floaties out and run it again for a few hours, go mine to 36ppm and worked fine, 19 days melon gum had clearly turned and aurora took 22 days. I sprayed once a day since the ppms were lower then the amazon stuff.

i have a few friends on other forums growing with LED's with great results. the best i have seen though are the ones running LED's to supplement HID's like you have. the LED's seem to bring more resin so your flower room sounds decent. i would love to see some of your indoor pics when its up and running if it isnt already

Yeah bro, I got .81 grams per watt from 2 ft plants.
blue og.jpg Blue OG. I think the added light spectrum brings out more potential.

At the moment I'm running Cotton Candy from Delicious seeds and Taskenti from Cannabiogen.
I'll try upload some pics tonight. 7 weeks into flower.

thanks mate. Na no smoke report, I have a thread with the full grow.

Everyone said the strain was killer and tasted real nice, og's are nice to smoke but I don't like the highs.

all these new kush/indica hybrids have the same effect: like a numbing tired stone.
I'm more into the pure hazey sativas, nothing beats pure sativa grown outside.

Herbies pick n mix bro, best one so far for me. Get the super stealth option. 8 days from order to arrival, don't order to many seeds though.
Look at Ace and Cannabiogen, best genetics imo.

in all honesty though i love the OG kush high. to me its not like the old school Kush. i remember the old Hindu Kush i used to grow would couch lock me so much i would just sit there trying to remember to blink lol. i find the OG's to be quite a Heady High in comparison.

Yeah any organic neem is good, bio degradable and so on. The Malawis have been ok for bugs but still had a few at the bottom. The Panamas had quite a few but not enough to worry about and I'm hitting them hard with neem and fly spray in their 'nymph' form like awaken said, nothing worse than hundreds of passion vine hoppers crawling up the stems sucking the life out of your plant.
maybe the bugs don't like it down there so much? get pretty cold down there bro, metservice reckons 6 degree overnight temp tomorrow. definitely not january weather aye?.

Yeah my plants are around 5 ft but they are gonna get massive with 3 months or more of growing left, sativas grow crazily in flower. should have plants taller than me by the end of the month.
The weather has been good up here, real hot over the last couple of days. the forecast is 12-14 overnight lows, that's pretty low for january in tga - we're usually 15-17 around this time of the year.

It does get pretty darn cold down those ways, anywhere past taupo don't have 'mild' winters like us.
my dad reckoned people finished in mid april at the latest, by the looks of your temps compared to taupo I'd say late april for you guys - enough time to grow a decent sativa.
I used to live up in the Kaimais and there's no way you can grow through may lol, freezing up there compared to welcome bay.

Yea mate pretty happy that you guys let me know about neem oil because it does wonders for the plant! Those passion vine hoppers sound like a pain I bet they hate that fly spray and neem though. Is there much visible damage from them? Must be pretty hard resisnt such a nice plant, from a bugs perspective :weed: lol It is getting cold over night here bro defiantly not January weather we usually don't get it like this, this time of year. It was supposed to be 7 tonight but its saying its 5.9!! Thats terrible for this time of year i dunno whats up with that ae. Looks like there are lows night temps for a few days but they get back up again soon. Was just looking at your met service, damn you've got some nice days lined up.

Yea your gonna have monsters ae I was looking at pictures of Malawis from the end of veg to the end of flower and they got huge! How many Malawi do you have again? Your dad is probably right mid april harvest at the latest. I think most people grow harty indicas in the hills around here but down on the plains or to the east you could grow sativas algood I reckon. Ive got some nice redy berry type color going up most of the leaf stems on my plant I was thinking maybe the cold could affect it? But I dunno maybe it doesnt mean anything because I can see the red on Aussie Originals indoor plants to. Ill chuck some pictures up though.

I checked mine today and its looking algood. Its got more bushy over height but its still gotten taller and looking algood. No new bug damage :-D Still not flowering male or female or anything so still vegging up and giving it the blood and bone veg nutes but it wont be far away id say. Anyway other than that its looking sweet as! Hers some pictures Anyone else having trouble witch uploading pictures and using the smileys? haha - Cheers

Yeah I like the real kush plants from afghanistan, pakistan and uzbekistan, I love the highs of hash plants - it takes you deeper than any hybrid.
I have a pakistan seed I want to grow.

Yeah I use neem in the indoor setup too, naa there was not much visual damage to the plants but the leaves the waxy sap on your plants and stops it from photosynthesising properly.

Bro those are like winter temps overnight, that will probably slow the plant a little but not much. they can handle freezing temperatures most of the time but not repeated abuse.
Only 2 Malawi clones outdoor, Yeah we've had quite a bit of rain and average daytime temps this year. Still good growing though.

Your plants looking healthy and doesn't look male to me, I'll be surprised if it is with that kind of structure.
Not flowering yet? must have some sativa in it for sure, most indicas show a few hairs by now. I'd say in the next 10 days you will see hairs.

I reckon 8oz minimum for your plant if it's still vegging. Malawi does get quite tall but the Panama will get taller I think. Malawi grows outwards and upwards equally - I'd say 1-2lb atleast.
4lb on a full season or more. NZ has a lot of potential growing in glasshouses. Panama would do all good in your climate, you should get some for next season. Mean plant for a first grow though bro, on to it.

Damn annoying as bugs bro haha That waxy crap sounds annoying to surely it runs of the plant after a good e rain though? Yeah they are basically winter temps its very unusual this time of year to have temperatures like that down here. I was watching the news and they were mentioning how this summer has been below avergae especially for the south island and the the price of honey is going to go up because there just hasent been enough sun for the bees or flowers etc. Thankfully those lows aren't sticking around for to long so it shouldn't be repeated abuse hopefully. At little bit of hardening of for it for the coming months I guess haha Its only 7.8 degrees as of now but tomorrow were supposed to get to 26 and there are some nice days lined up. Its coming from the south some im hoping it will change northerly in the next few days.

Cheers mate think its looking good so far ae? Yeah it defiantly has some sativa in it, the leaves start out very sativa like in structure and turn more indica as the leaves get bigger. Also some of the bigger mature leaves have 9 fingers. Smells sativaish to, very fresh, clean, minty, really piney type smell but certainly has some skunk type indica smell underlying aswell. Im starting to smell the plant if im approaching and the winds blowing towards me I get a real nice wiff of it

That would be awesome if its a female and produces that then! Your two Malawi's look sooo nice and bushy, with 1 - 2lbs your gonna be sorted as! Id like to grow that Panama one day. A nice tall sativa, im keen to see how yours go. How does the Malawi and Panama smell? The soil I took to my spot has defiantly helped because without it, it wouldn't look how it is I reckon. The soil in the spot is rubbish and the soil I took up was soil from home (Basically river silty soil with almost no rocks at all) mixed with a bit of potting mix, compost with worms amongst it and decomposing straw. So a fair bit of N in there id say

Hey fellow Kiwi stoners, I recently made a thread about how I should go about with my first grow, and someone recommended to try my luck here! So I'll just copy and paste then contents and hope for the best

  • As the title says I'm a virgin grower, yet to concur my first harvest. I have a small space inside my new house which I'm planning on turning into a small growing area, the measurements are 2ftx2ftx7ft.

I am on a pretty strict budget of 500NZD (about 420$ USD) With this I need to buy Lights, Grow Tent, Carbon Filter and Fans (Plus anything other ESSENTIALS you may think I need)
*Do you think it's possible to set up an efficient growing space with my budget?
*How many plants do you think I can fit in this space?
*With this amount of space how many DRY grams do you think I can get per harvest?

Any help would be highly appreciated, and holy shit. Some of your guys grows look amazing, hope for my to be like yours one day xd

Hey NzStonerr

I have a few suggestions for you. Others here are more experienced but I will start the ball rolling...

One: Switched on Gardner have second-hand ballast with new 400w hps bulbs for $99. This would be a great light to start with.

Two: If stealth (you don't want anyone to know including family) is a priority you need a carbon filter with an inline extraction fan. This will cost you the most money but for piece of mind is worth it. There are DIY carbon filters on this forum but I personally would not waste my time with them if stealth is your number one priority. You will need to extract the air outside so hopefully your space can accommodate this. It is essential that the air goes straight outside as heat build-up in your grow space will be a real issue because of its size.

Three: I am unsure of why you would need a tent. If you can get away with sealing the room (but allowing passive intake for the extraction fan) just paint it white for now.

Four: Fans, ducting, pots, soil with additives like worm castings and guano etc(assuming you are doing an organic soil grow), temp/humidity gauges, etc are small items but will cost nearly $100 all together. Some stuff can be bought on trademe but it is not necessarily always the cheapest option. bunnings for fans is a good option.

five: Seeds can be purchased online for a small outlay. Choose a good but cheap company if cost is the issue (maybe mandala). Everyone here has their favorites. It's a personal choice thing.

You could grow 1 plant with about 8 weeks veg (scrog style. search this forum for examples) or 2 plants with 6 weeks veg or 4 plants with 4 weeks veg (on average). Yield should be at least .5 grams a watt so 200g minimum is what I would expect for my first grow before getting things dialed in.

Go to your local switched on gardener and ask questions. They will help you out.

Lets hope NZ can follow Uruguay's lead...

Yeah I have a small infestation in my room too, 7.5 weeks in. Yeah anything under 10 degrees in january is weird bro, our lowest in the last few months is 10.
I calculated that Taurangas january is .2 degrees under the average daytime temps, even more with night time temps. I think the real summer is beginning to start though, been nothing but clear blue skies this week and we were the hottest on one day. I think the south island is suffering more than up here, the season has been good for growing - I just read that we got 2,515(2nd highest) sunshine hours in 2013, close to 2,800 for whakatane but I think something's wrong with the measuring device there like they mentioned last year, can't see whakatane having almost 300 hours more than us.

Yeah You're plant is looking nice and lush. We'll have to wait and see until it flowers to see if it's indica or sativa but I think it must have some with those long leaves - pure afghanis/indicas have short leaves. definitely a bit of indica in it though with the internode spacing.
The panamas have a hash plant scent to them but a african sativa smell on stem rub. Hmm the Malawi don't smell much, more of a tropical variety. They have an amazing smell in flower though - an indescribable aroma that I just call the 'Malawi smell', another grower in Hawaii said the same thing at IC. Best strain ever! all you could ever want in a marijuana strain.

It's good you added that soil and compost, otherwise it wouldn't be as big or healthy looking as it is now. Well done mate.

Can't wait till the start flowering! still awhile away though.
