Newbie Node Questions

This is my very first attempt at growing, and I've looked at pictures and still just can't tell, are these some sort of preflower?

no those are new leaf branches forming, but yes those same spots would be where the preflowers form, except hte preflowers wont look like litle tiny leaves they willl look like little pears to start off,
