I havent tried foam inserts but im sure they would work fine. I run 6" net pots and would worry about stability as i run larger than normal plants.


Just try both and see what you like better. There is no *better* option here i assure you. Its whatever fits your style best. If you plan in too feeding, hydroton will allow roots to establish in your net pot better for more stability. Other than that i see no difference

I use a combo of coco pellets & hydroton, never had any problems with them yeah some of the coco will get in your res, but after like one week in your setup it will stop, then u just Clean an refill the res! An it doesn't even fuck with the PH at all, I actually think the coco helps it, but that's my own personal theory
