Noisy mufflers. What is the purpose?

I’m generally a quiet sort of guy.

But when I procured me a dresser, I fitted it with a Thunderheader exhaust at the loud end of the possible.

It made my bike suddenly more visible to the car operators around me.

This has exactly zero to do with the abomination that is cars with “I scratch my balls in your general direction” exhausts.
I run straight pipes on my 74 Harley. Nobody misses me when I'm around. The cars though? They are either driving a performance car or wish they were. Check the make and model to discern the difference.

A crew of locals used to go down once a year. I never went but they were all deaf for a week when they got back. It's pretty fucking loud live at those tracks.

Not like TV.
We won tickets to Talladega years ago.

Loud, could not see much of the racing
on track and the jumbo tron was not much better.

It was more fun watching the crowd getting drunk and rowdy.

That's ridiculous man. I added an intake, header and exhaust for my Integra, along with suspension and some other shit, but I did a lot of research first. I don't like the sound of most modded exhausts. Mine is nice and deep. It doesn't sound like it's running on rice. It just sounds like it's got some
Balls!

Oh, and it's fun as fuck to drive in the mountains when I have on the Azenis. If the corner says 25, that means I can take it at 50 safely, lol.

Never seen a nascar race past a lap or two on TV. Dad and my one grandpa brought me to some formula races back in the '80's. I have been itching to put this 350 I have in my shop into something....last time we had it in a PU it was a flaming, loud, beast.

My uncle put a 350 V8 engine in a 280Z when I was younger. He was the 280Z guy around. Anyways, he built it for his wife. It was a serious sleeper car, lol.

Edit: I gotta correct myself. It was a 260Z.

I wound up getting a custom 280 off a buddy that was all tricked out. The original guy the stated building it was gonna race it, so he put in a rollbar, special seats, a 3 point harness, and put a bunch of engine work into it. My buddies older brother bought it off that guy, and he continued to work on it, but mainly in the appearance. He got it painted, and tricked out a bit more before he sold it to his younger brother who I got it from later. We just traded straight up. My Accord for his 280Z.

Well let's just say I got a ticket the first day, lol. It was really hard to control myself, and got more tickets than I could imagine in it. I almost got arrested for Reckless Driving once after I passed a Mustang cop I didn't see. Well, I wound up going another 3-4 miles before I started slowing down, since I was getting close to my house. He got lucky to see me on this long straightaway and so he finally caught up to me. I had no idea I had even passed a cop, lol. I eventually sold it and bought another Accord, but I miss that car, and so does my buddy.

This had a header, with stage 2 cams, exhaust and all that.

That car was a blast to drive, but got me in a lot of trouble.

My Integra has some balls and gives me almost the same feeling, but it's easier to stay outta trouble with it since it doesn't have quite the balls that that bad boy did. Let's just say the 280 pushed you back in your seat more.

I've actually had my Integra going faster though. 128 mph was as fast as I've been in it. My buddy didn't believe me, so I took him for a ride, and he was freaking out before we even hit 100 mph, lol.
