Noob with "stealth"grow question

Dresser grow dimensions..36"w*14"d*23.5"h, is what I'm working with. Question being, I'm looking at growing 2-4 plants max. I've been looking at lighting and I'm undecided. I found a viavolt t5 4 bulb lamp that puts out a total of 20k lumens (blue light ) over kill?¿?¿ when I could go with 5 42 watt 2900 lumens soft white lights (3 bulbs on top and 1 on each side) and still have plants of "left over" lumens
I've read 3k lumens for every sq foot, which would leave me at 10850 lumens needed for my grow space.
Each set up will be able to be adjusted height wise and will sit roughly 2-3" above the plants.
What set up do u tend to side with?

3k lumens is the minimum you want. I'm up around 8k, I say the more the better.

Do you have around 3sq ft? If so do you have bulbs on the sides of the plants or just over head? I think that's what I'm primarily worried about. The t5 is strictly overhead, granted I don't have as much space anyways.
