hi guys. i am new here, and just starting to become a part of the cannabis culture.

this is my first attempted grow, in my closet. the video explains most all that i can think of.

please let me know what you think. if it will work and what could be done to make it better, affordably.

i am just now learning and having a blast with it so far.

i still have those plants, they are yellowing badly from what i assume is too many nutriants. i followed the dosage directions on the bottle as i cant afford an EC meter at the present.
the plants are over a month old and about 4 inches tall with 10-20 leaves on each plant. they have been through hell and back twice. from originally being grown in old moldy soil with no air circulation under full spectrum floro's to being transplanted to a DWC hydro setup.

i must say they have honestly ALL survived the transplant to hydro, i cant belive it. but while showing explosive growth after first putting them in a real growing enviromnent, they are now yellowing.

will these ever amount to anything? should i just kill them and start over with newly germinated seeds? keep in mind that i do indeed have a small childish attachment to them, and i must admit i have named at least 1.
So, if its possible for them to make a decent plant, i might go a little out of my way to make it happen just for sentimental reasons hehe.

let me know what you think.
awesome to meet you guys.

looks good..need more light i would say...i dont grow hydroponic but im sure you can find a more concentrained solution to lower how much nutes you have to use. as far as ph lvls you have to use alot so its prolly best to buy the gallon solution

You can have a shitload of those CFL's on one circuit, or one outlet for that matter. If you have three outlets and the wires in the wall all run to the same breaker in your panel then the three outlets are on the same circuit. I can't remember what the max is, I thought it was 80% of the rated capacity, if a circuit is 15 amps then you should safely be able to run 80% of 15A from the circuit. 12 amps? I believe it's 80% but I can't remember so someone else chime in here.

If your bulb is 26 watts and your wall voltage is 120 volts then you divide the 26 by 120. 26/120=.216. So each bulb uses aprox. .216 amps of electricity. If you had 25 bulbs plugged into the same outlet you would still be under 6A. 50 26 watt bulbs might be pushing the rated capacity of a 15 amp breaker.

Is this correct? Damn these bulbs don't use much.

And keep going, let's see what happens to them.

Oh, and you can get a cheep PPM meter on ebay, under $20. Don't know if they work but someone else here might.

i could be wrong but i dont think thats how you calculate amps

There's a nice little Ohms Law calculator here: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Bill_Bowden/ohmslaw.htm and probably a million others online. Load calculations are something every grower should be aware of. Besides getting my front door kicked down, a fire is my worst nightmare.

And 80% is the rated load for a breaker. Assuming my calc is correct and a 26 watt bulb uses .216 I believe you could plug 73 26 watt CFL's into a dedicated 20A outlet. Why would you do this? I have no idea, just cool to imagine. CFL's are amazing technology.

im having a problem keeping the tempurature down in my closet. it reaches mid 90's at times after leaving the doors closed for a while. i really dont want to consider knocking a hole in the wall of my house for ventalation, but controlling the heat and humidity is becoming an issue.

i have fancied the idea of a hommade "swamp cooler" that could use PC fans sponges and a water resivior to help cool the room and perhaps raise the humidity in the room. i cant just leave the door open fulltime, as where i live i must run the air conditioner, which will dry the room out to 30% humidity if i leave the door open.

if the door is left closed for more than 2 hours the humidty will reach the 60's. but the heat also rises too high.

anyone found a simplie solution for thier closet? any ideas? hommade devices?

would love some more feedback as i have got hardly any.

thanks for your help.

Do you have an oscialating fan in there? if not. get one. Thye will get it down as it sways side to side and moves all the air in grow around and especially arounbd ur lights and plants.

Another thing is ur voice is so fucking cool man. + rep.

well yea i would cut a hole in the wall and get some fresh air in and then get some outake air going out into your house or attic or some were you need fresh air and out take air going 24/7 ....i just had that problem and tool me a shilt load of time figuring it out ........i dont do cfls so im not sure how much heat they make i didnt think they made much .............so im guessing if you get the intake and outake are hooked up then you might be ok try that then move on to the next idea if it dosnt work ...........but just putting a fan to move air around in your closet is not doing anything really.............for that top shelf will be good for clones and maybe a small mother not sure how tall it is up there ...........look into the lights man there are way better lights i blieve out there for florcents i just used aquirum and plant lights and all man what a fucking wast of time ..............alright thats enought work for you hahaha got cut your holes and make a intake out take ...........oh yea since you said you have your ac in your house you could use that as your fresh air just cut a hole in your wall and make a vent try and match the other ones in your house so it dosnt look out of place hahahaha shit man now i need another rip bongsmilie

thanks for the advice guys. i have made a couple more vids since i last posted at the changed setup. you can see my new lolfan i converted into a quasi-air conditioner. lemme know what you think and what i could do to make it better.

here is a link to my latest vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUdnHEz2nKI

Also dude u said ur having temp issues. Get an osciallating fan that moves around. That ones just blowing straight. Also some of ur plants dont look so great or are bending major towards light. Maybe try and back off with the light just a little bit to get better light coverage. But some of them are looking sweet.

Happy Herb.

whats the temp at now? I like your idea with the cfl reflectors what is that you used? I also really liked your cooling coil. Oscillating fans dont matter as long as all of your plants are getting air. also rotatating your plants every now and then can help evanly spread air and light.

Ive had experience with oscialliating fans they do help. Because if a straight fan is blowing the air straight maybe the air is taking the same path the whole time. But when its osciallating and moving from side to side the air may take a different path or a longer path - thus cooling down more as the air moves around more and moves away from the lights or something.

awsome. thanks for the advice. ya i have all sorts of ideas brewing in my head about a ice chest converted into a resiviour for the air conditioner. could maybey hold ice water for a while.

those reflectors i used for my clf's are just made out of simple aluminum cans. holes were drilled up top to let heat escape. these relflectors actually reflect a considerable abount of light, i have played around with small experiments with pleaseing results. i am hoping for the best.

my next biggest problem is what am i going to do about the smell when it comes time to flower? i have never once seen a real cannabis plant in person before. belive it or not. mine are the first i have ever seen, so you can imagine how proud of them i am.

my closet is really small and i have to leave the door open to keep the tempature down in there, but what am i going to do when it comes time to flower? i dont expect to be able to keep the door open. i have never smelled it growing before and have no idea how potent the smell will be, and how careful i need, and what i need to do. i live in a normal house in a residental nighborhood. so lemme know what kinda precoutions i need take, if any.

ooh and btw. thanks for the comments about my voice. i was forced to do college radio for 2 semesters because of it. i am a speech major and i work on my dialect and annunciation, diction ect alot. if you want me to do any kinda voice over stuff for your vids, commentary, or just random fun stuff lemme know.
hell, i am supposed to be practicing a bunch this semester actually. maybey i can do a reading for you guys as a project or something. so let me know for sure.
thanks again.
