Northern Lights Femanized Autoflower - Week 1 to 2

Hi all,

This is my second grow...I killed the first plant a week into flower by suffocating it with too much CO2 :fire:

Once again, my wisdom decides to research topping of autoflowers a tad bid late. I had topped my prior grow (non-autoflower) and did the same to this one...Pretty much as soon as i topped it, I read that you are not supposed to top autoflowers..DOH :wall: (It is early on so hopefully it will have time to recover before flowering). Now i know....

Anyway, here are the pics. It is a NL autoflower strain from Nirvana. I didn't document exactly when it got planted (roughly 7/15) so this week would be the beginning of week #3.

I topped her last night so I will monitor her health throughout the week and post pics for week 3 shortly. This weekend I will be transplanting into a larger medium. After the transplant, hopefully there will be no more stress for her.

Well never mind on my weekend transplant then ;) I will leave her alone.

I have 4 26W 6500 (6800 Lumens total) CFL's about 2" above the top of the plant. I have adequate ventaliation and temp is consistently around 75. I have the lights on an 18/6 schedule.

My plan was to transplant her into a 5 gallon pot this weekend as the medium its in right now is rather small (See Pics). Do you think this pot will be big enough to go all the way through flower?

I was also planning on leaving the light schedule at 18/6 all the way through flowering. Is this also a good idea or should i go with the 12/12?

Remember, I am a complete n00b...second grow. I try to research all I can but most comes with experience ;)

TIA for any help, opinions, or anything otherwise ;)

i top all my autos. i move them twice daily. i get excellent results.
Thanks for the info! I feel a little more at ease :)

I topped her last night (end of week 2). I think I will be ok with timing / recovery and the only downside I was able to research is that for autoflowers, the main chola is usually the most dense with bud. Now that i cut the main chola off, I will have two that will yield the same amount and probably less than just the main one. I still have a few other seeds from this strain so when I am done with this grow, I will experiement with a second grow without topping and compare the yields.

With only 104 watts, I would stick with 24hours on or add more light and move to 18on 6off but i run a 450 watt LED 24hours on. with no issues unless it hits 95 degrees outside...

Great info. My plan was to add 4 more 26W 2700K bulbs in a few weeks and have all 8 CFL's running at once but I will take your advice and change the light schedule from 18/6 to 24 on until I add the more 2700K CFL's

I had to bite the bullet on the transplant. Being the end of week 3, she has plenty of time to recover and grow. There is no way the plant would survive flowering in that "studio apartment" so i placed her in a 3 gallon "Condo". I researched and researched and researched some more about how to transplant without stressing her and I came across a method that made sense to me. The process I followed is below in case anyone is interested.

1) Fill the new container 70% with soil.
2) Place the old container directly into the new container (You have a container inside a container)
3) Fill around the old container with the remainder of soil
4) Water the new container / soil
5) Remove the old container from the new container (You will have a PERFECT imprint of the old container in the new container's soil)
6) Sprinkle some root powder / root nutrients to the bottom of the new mold.
7) Carefully remove the plant from the old container and place directly into the perfect mold in the new container
8) Add soil as required to level out the top of the container.

I want to make it a point that upon transplant, even though the new location was a perfect fit, the plant DID undergo some stress as the majority of leaves began drooping. After a day, she is beginning to recover and leaves are now perky again.

In the future, I will put the seed directly into the 3 or 5 gallon pot right away to avoid transplanting.

All said and done, The transplant method above was the best method I was able to find and the plant is looking healthy again.

I think this is what I am going to do. Was this successful for you?

Dont listen to these guys. lol obviously trolling. Do not transplant is the stupidest thing i have ever heard. Would love to hear there thinking on that one lol. And why the fuck would you top it. you guys know nothing. Do not top it, and just transplant one time from seedling cup to finishing pot. You were right in the beginning topping autoflowers is especially bad.

Hmm..that's funny cuz I transplanted all of my autos just fine. Just gotta be careful... Topping has to be timed right w/ autos, and some just don't respond well 2 it. LST > Topping for auto training in my experience.
Must not know anything cuz I topped and transplanted this girl on my first grow N ended up with a couple zips from her...

The real question is Why you think this guy still needs help after 2 years or w.e lmao?

If you think it was nice topping. Imagine what you would have gotten if you just left it. Talk about knowing nothing.
