I'm just a new guy to the forum, saying "hey" and reading up. I'm in a herb hater state in the middle of the US and trying to figure out the best way to help my wife and some of her friends that have debilitating migraines. Did a google search for reviews of the all-in-one growing tents and cabinets and even though I'm no handyman, looks like I'd be better off trying to DIY. (not really what I wanted to do.. but ya gotta be smart with your cash)

So.. I guess I'll spend a few more hundred hours reading up... before I plant me some seeds that should arrive this week.

I did a search for local hydro shops around my area, and found nothing. Would love to find someone local to buy supplies from rather than online superstores. ??

sorry bro. if your in a hater state your only options are online, and mcgyvering shit fomr lowes, home depot, or walmart. i live in tx. and we all know how these cowboys feel about that lovely grass. so when i grew a few years back, i had to build a setup using lights and fans ordered from htgsupply and built a box from the hardware store. ITS DOABLE. you just have to be smart about your options. dont get carried away, and DONT TELL ANYONE.

thanks gfreeman. I have way too much to lose to be talking.. but helpin' the ole lady is worth any risk. I'm just north of you, so I def. understand about your tx cowboys. Here it's almost as if meth is ok, but a natural herb gets you life in jail. oh well. I guess I'm off to find a paperclip, ballpoint pen, and cotton ball so I can go mcgyver a spare bedroom..lol

You can find everything you need to do a good organic soil grow at your local nursery, I know you have one of those around you. You might only need to order a light from online.

in a state like that, (living in tx ppl) i would rather order online from htgsupply.com than go to the local hydro supply store. or go in a buddys car, with a buddy, to go browse and stuff. idk. im paraniod amongst these cowboys, thats hy im not even growing right now, no longer being in a house im fkn scared shitless about the maintenance people coming in. theyve already done it almost everymonth ive lived here.....*knock knock* "maintenance, got to spray for bugs!"....i think theyre fucking keeping tabs man! lmao. paranoia!!!

actually... I currently have 25 tom plants outside, but the heat and drought have been so bad haven't gotten a single fruit... finally have a few starting. I have a 4x8 raised bed that is full of cilantro, and 8 habanero plants. so I do make some killer salsa...

did I just hijack my own thread?

Move the fuck out of Oklahoma. That state is bat shit crazy when it come Cannabis laws. Check out your local nurseries. They usually carry everything you need for a decent grow. I can get the FoxFarm trio and soil from a local nursery here. Just tell them you're growing tomatoes.

well.. 42 years here... and two businesses... but in a few years we are going to liquidate and move out to a country with a govt that is a lot less corrupt. (mexico):wall:

I think you should smoke weed before anything. See if you want your wife smoking that stuff, or eating it.

Also, I buy everything online except for dirt and pots. Wayy cheaper deals online(just look for freeshipping, best deals on lamp fixtures, lightbulbs, exhuast fan and carbon filter are ebay(Look for the 2-5year warranty ones)).

wifey knows me too well. I'm a great musician, husband, cook, provider, etc. But I'm NOT a builder/carpenter/architect. She also knows how busy I am most of the time. So..... she thinks we should go the all in one route. (mortgage lifter, etc). I'm a tight ass, and also don't want to alert the neighbors with a freight truck pulling up in the drive with a big ole box.

gotta hurry up... seeds are coming.

Ebay ships 2-3days. You'll get a bunch of little brown boxes with whatever you order.
If you get your seeds first, just throw them in the paper towel(usually 2-3days to germ) while you wait for your stuff.
