ok I've read and watched videos but i'm still a bit confued when they say 1/4 , 1/2 , 3/4 strength and I've read the mesurments for my nutes and I'll be doing 1L batches of food and that's 1/4 strength but I was wondering when people say full strength , is that when you use the full amount in the 1L?

This is what they mean.

If the recommended strength on the bottle is 2 table spoons per gallon, quarter strength would be half a table spoon, half strength would be one table spoon.

It is also recommended that you always start the nutrients at quarter strength and move up by 25% every feeding until you are at full strength. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hope that helps.

They don't mean 1/4 or 1/2 of the whole bottle if that's what you're asking? ... They mean 1/4 or 1/2 of the recommended dose that is written on the bottle, like GrowTech said.

If you use the metric system it would be more like:

The bottle recommends 20ml of fertilizer per 1 Litre of water (This is considered full strength)
So, 1/2 stregth would be 10ml of fert per 1 Litre of water
And 1/4 strength would be 5 ml of the fert per 1 Litre of water

no I didn't meen about using 1/4 or 1/2 of the contanor but my nutes say use 5ml of food for 4L of water and I'll be doing 1L batches so I wasn't 100% if it was just 1/4 for 1L of water or increasing the dosage of food for the 1L of water after so many weeks (ie. 1/4 of food for 1L of water for 1 month then up the dosage of food to 1/2 for 1L of water)

You're thinking correctly now, however you don't need to wait a month. Waiting a week before upping it is a very reliable method!

On a slight tangent... I am using Fox Farm nutes @ 1/2 but I think my plants are showing N def. How do I resolve that? Do I just throw in some of my fert with the highest N count (Big Grow) or does it need to remain in the suggested ratio (i.e., 3 tsp of Big Bloom and 1 tbls of Big Grow). Thanks!

PS. I probably need to mention that I'm using a DWC-drip hydroponics.
