Nutes? Just wondering when you guys know you need nutes.

I'm new to growing. Have 2 ladies I just flipped to flower 5 days ago and have yet to feed them nutes. At all. They still look fine from the compost and FFOF I'm guessing. Actually a little too much N still but I bought the lotus nutrients and wondering if anyone uses those or just any advice about feeding at all. How much and how often.

Depends. What type of nutes do you plan on using?

when do you plan to flip?
I just flipped 5 days ago. Haven't given any nutes at all yet. From seed till now and they've been thriving well. This is my first grow. I was overwatering at first but I got my watering on point so other than that just nervous about adding nutes and all that

Unless you have a crazy imbalance in your water, you could probably just use the tap.

Did you transplant before flip? What size container?
My towns tap water is fucking horrible man. Full of calcium and lime. Which I have used some of thinking it would help the plants with some stuff but I transplanted both about 4-5 weeks ago. One to a 3 gal and one to a 5 gal. As I said this won't let me attach pics for some reason or id just post em. I've never had a problem with posting pics before so kinda unusual

I let the plants veg for way longer than planned because of certain circumstances so the plants are about 9 weeks old. It's my first grow so didn't really know what I was doing at first. Bought the cheapest light and put them in a closet lol. But I bought an AC infinity set up a week ago and they've been doing great ever since so that's when I flipped them.

with those nutes, id start low dose in a couple weeks, or if you start seeing deficiency. The smaller pot will deplete before the bigger one does, so you may start seeing deficiency in that one sooner. Don't add the calmag. See what happens first.

Okay thanks. Usually just yellowing of leaves, brown spots? Things like that? The bigger one has some brown tips which I think is from too much N. The compost I used to early and it was too hot I think and then when I transplanted I even did a mix of coco and FFOF and a little bit of perlite and it still seemed too hot. But since I just flipped a few days ago I know they're gonna be needing nutes here soon

Ok cool. So usually just a once a week feed? The ladies have been drinking alot plus the air flow in my tent is drying up the pots alot quicker so Ibe been having to water every 3 days.

follow the schedule, just lighter dosage when mixing it.

Experience tells you best when to feed...annoying to hear, but true. That said it would be rare in any situation where you hadn't fed in Veg that you wouldn't need to as flower starts. They use the most nutes after flip through the stretch. If you just flipped I wouldnt worry if it now looks like it has too much N, it needs a lot at this phase.

That said as a first grow a small spindley plant wont need to be fed much at all. Flip side a big healthy plant will need a lot of nutrients.

We cant prescribe what and when without seeing the plants though, too many things vary.
