Nutrient use in soil.

I would think most of us using soil are our own scientific hemp horticulturist ( Wanabe ). In saying so, what I am experiencing is using nutrients that are labeled for hydroponic use. How do you exactly measure what your plant actually needs from a Hi Power nutrient that is formulated for water that has no nutrients and minimal minerals. When your soil has basically the nutrients to start and finish your plant. The general rule with all nutrients that we use is to go less than what is directed on the label and then work up. In my studies I have used quite a few different nutrient makeups for our crops. In my studies for the first three or four tries I ended up burning my plants. And then adjusting from there. Sad thing when we go through all the effort time and money. And trying to keep my pH adjusted in my soil of course you have to start with what you add to it nutrient-wise. I ended up trying Advanced Nutrients three part perfect pH when I started using it I am pretty sure the label just said pH perfect micro will keep the pH of your nutrient solution stable within a range of optimal for nutrient uptake for one week. This product specifically designed for hydroponic use. If I'm correct label did not go on to say anything about soil. And still does not today. It currently says on the label other substrates, but does not mention actually how it should be used. I started using 2 ml of each per liter of water and using it every other watering. As time went on I moved up in the milliliter of nutrients up to five ml per liter. The soil that I have used and continue to use is Miracle Grow moisture Control?. If these ratios work excellent for me with this product, my thinking would be generally the same for other nutrients for Hydro use. ( do not get me wrong, my thinking is definitely not right all the time, LOL!. ) I am starting to experiment with other additives to what I have doing. I have been suggested to try Mega crop. I do not know if I use Mega crop one part and that's all I need to used in general? Or I was recommended to use the mega crop instead of the grow nutrient in the three part A N.? I am going to try that in my current study and we will see how it goes. Also I am going to add Cal Mag to my A.N. schedule. I do not know what bloom nutrient to use when the time comes? I hope this thread pulls a lot of information for all of us. Please share your product use and technique with us. Thank you

All nutes are based on hydro.

I’ll jump on this grenade ……

Way overthinking things - first it’s “ miracle grow “ - the ammonium sulfate / copper sulfate blended within kills myco activity. It has controlled release fertilizer which defeats the purpose of ’ controlled ‘ feeds according to growth stage. It floods itself every time you water. Although , it’s available everywhere doesn’t mean it’s a good choice. Yes …. Some growers use it , but most suffer nitrogen excess or other issues with its heavy synthetic makeup.

AN - Cartoon bottles .
Money grab nutrien line with a thousand bottles to grow ONE god damn plant ….. think about that.
What other plant on the planet needs - boosters / sweetener / nonsensical supplements. If you got money to burn or listen to You Tube knuckleheads - then so be it. It’s all marketing hype.

There are more “ complete “ nutrients available in 1 / 2 / 3 part systems - both bottled or powdered. Some like GH MAXIBLOOM ( used both in hydro and soil / soilless ) is probably the easiest to run. Matter of fact , MAXIBLOOM alone would carry a grow start to finish. Sounds like you are jumping on the CALMAG train by assuming you should need that too.

Tap water has calcium / mag right from the city ….. most nutrient lines also have it.…….
Excess calcium in your grows will most definitely fuck up things due to its antagonistic behavior ( blocking / suppressing ) other needed elements.
Leading you to start screwing with it even more.

The mantra around here is - Keep it simple stupid ( KISS ) or as I call it “Keep shit simple shithead.“ ( sometimes it comes down to that :bigjoint: )
Better bagged medium choices can carry a plant’s initial growth upfront - on water alone - for weeks.
NO GUESSING - NO ADDING KITCHEN SINK - NO CARTOONS - NO DRAMA

Instead of “ studying “ or “ Frankensteining “ things - do basic gardening.

My point is they develop them, or nearly all of them, in hydro. Immediate results or disaster. Res change starts everything over more or less. No company is going to dick around doing runoff ECs in soil. Ridiculous. Plus anything that works in hydro works in soils. Anyone believing or knowing differently is invited to pitch in.

t
Well at least not if it has pumice or perlite.
[Wellll it was either stick my fucking dick in the dirt or keep it in my hand and dream, and wish. And never have any actual flowers. I guess I'm just like a no grower if I do not use hydroponic aeroponic soil less Coco coir or some other method. That's okay because I do end up with some fine Mota that I don't have to purchase off the street.

Stop thinking you need to add this for that or that for this and simply plant your plants in a decent quality organic soil, w/fertilizer, and vermicompost. Then you just water the plants. Thats it …no ph-ing or ppm-ing or adding expensive bottles of snake oil. Take care of the soil and the plants just do their thing. I wish someone told me this when I started out…

It is only as complicated as you make it. Way more guesswork in organics though.
