NYD Clone 1st Grow

That could be the case, sounds like you might have some salts built up in the soil from overfeeding. I've been there :( A flush is not the best thing to be doing right now but it is necessary. Keep it running off until your runoff falls within your desired range, it will take A LOT of water. The general rule is 3x the capacity of your container. I had PH 5.5 on my last grow from buildups and my PH meter falling out of calibration... Had to flush midway through flowering. It definitely effected my yield but it still turned out to be top notch smoke, just not as much of it. When you get a chance grab some PH calibration solution and check your meter every week or two.

I got lazy and that's mostly where my PH issues came from. Good luck, let us know how it works out.
From what I've been reading it shouldn't affect my yield at all. Especially if I flush with ph'd nutes. Fox farm recommends a microbial flush every three weeks. But who knows, I just have to get my ph balanced whether it increases or decreases yield.

You should be just fine.... The only thing that worries me is how far out of whack your PH is. 5.2 is a mile away from 6.2 in terms of relativity. Its not necessarily the flush that hurts your yield its the lockout that necessitates a flush, followed by the medium adjustment of PH to resume feeding.

I can tell by your posts that you have already learned a ton from this grow, from research and experience and you have fixed every problem so far. No reason why you can't straighten this out and put a good grow under you belt.

CHeers, have a good weekend. Did you flush yet?

Totally understand what you're saying. Im pretty worried about the lock out myself but hopefully it hasn't caused too much damage. I'm gonna flush tomorrow morning. I'll post some pics.
Have a good weekend too man.

Flushed the day before last. Got plenty of runoff and it came out to be 5.8 so its coming up slowly but surely. My place is really starting to stink which kinda sucks but it smells so good! Very citrus-like with a hint of fuel. The pistils are about 50% orange on all of the lower nodes but the main colas are mostly still white. Im afraid these are going to take longer than expected.

They really look good considering PH issues! I would have kept flushing until your runoff metered 6.0 or higher, as much water as it takes really. At 5.8 you're teetering a fine line for locking out under that. Water with your adjusted PH solution every time and get plenty of runoff each time you water. Hopefully it will creep back up as long as you runoff lots of water every time you administer it. Still, try to let the soil dry out appropriately between your waterings not to drown the root media.

Nice colas :D

Thanks sb I had a feeling I should've kept the water flowing. Next water it'll definitely be above 6, I'll make sure of that. The next three to five weeks are major.

I am confident you will straighten it out. 5.8 is ok, any lower and I would be worried, been there! You're beefing out nicely, I'd say you have already surpassed the quality of the mother. Don't fuck it up! ahahah jk

My house stinks bad. U ever use ona gel schwag?
I've tried it, it doesn't work. Well, it might work for reducing it but it certainly won't eliminate it. Nothing works except filters and ozone generators. Carbon filter and negative pressure is the best way!

Sounds good I might just invest in a nice fan/filter combo.

Its a must once you get into flowering really. My advice would be don't cheap on a fan, make sure you pull plenty of air through it b/c the filter will reduce the airflow by 25% or more. Some people claim to make their own filters and fans with great success so look around the forum, there are some nice concepts.

later!

Im using a 6in booster fan which seems to keep tent pretty cool. A diy filter is probably my best bet.

Should all of the pistils be orange before I chop?
Fuck, I just typed up a nice response here and my high ass navigated to another page before posting, LOL.

Check out the harvesting and curing section of the forum, there are some sticky threads that will fill you in alot.

Most people go by trich clarity and color, you can score a magnifier at radio shack for 10 bucks that will let you look at them at 100x. Lovely toy that will help you watch the trichs change from clear, to cloudy and swollen, to amber in color. Each stage provides a different effect, its very strain dependent. In the beginning I harvested buds at different cycles and took notes. I also went off from the hairs for my first grow, which worked fine for me. I chopped when about 2/3 of the hairs were red, but the trich method is more precise. I think there is a greater tendency to harvest early using just the hairs IMO.

For my taste I harvest before I get any amber from my fast finishing sativas. If I'm doing an indica and want to make it a cock puncher I will finish it a bit longer and let them amber. They say when you have more amber the THC is breaking down into another cannabanoid calledCBD's which have more of a narcotic effect.

Check out that section and you will find some more clarification. Or seek Jorge, I know he's your man! Fuckin Jorge taught me how to make hash! lol. ok clicking post now so I don't lose this one! May as well have another toke.

Hey another thing I wanted to mention about your plants. When I grew my plants straight up without topping or training I used support to hold the lower buds up closer to the light. I use bamboo sticks and pipe cleaners/twist ties. I think this helped a lot once the buds got heavy and wanted to fall downward away from the light. I ended up tying branches together as well. You're swelling pretty good now and they starting to look heavy. Something to think about. Although you have some pretty good supplemental lighting, I'm pretty sure its helping out bc they look to be getting bulky from top to bottom. Waiting sucks but its so goddamn enjoyable in the end.

Hahah your the man schwag. I just ordered a 50x jewelers loupe, hopefully that'll be strong enough. I was just worried that i wont be able to distinguish the difference in trich colors. I also forgot to tell you i have 3 bamboo shoots with twisty ties in each plant for some added support, unfortunately i think i need more. They do help a ton though. This next bong rip goes out to you for all the help you've given me!

So I just received my scope and I was looking at the ladies today. They look like theyre mostly cloudy but I guess they could be clear too. Its really hard to tell the difference.

Not going to disagree there, it is difficult. Keep looking at them frequently. They look purdy though don't they?!
