Seriously you're going there? There's a concept known as superior intellect.

I remember this one scene in a Narnia book. The kids from London were eating animals. They were horrified once they found out it was a smart talking animal. It was ok before, when it was a stupid animal who couldn't talk.
Imagine if humans took that approach with other humans. Oh, yeah, they have.

If you consider it "eye for an eye"; would you be equally satisfied cooking a bear, chimp, sheep, or deer? They all have the option to eat only plants; yet they are known to dabble on the meat-side. For deer and sheep; it's only gnawing the parts off of baby birds for certain nutrients.

Though how could it be "eye for an eye" unless they ate someone you know?
The thing vegans don't seem to realise, if we don't stay on top of the food chain, something else will take over.

You said something, but didn't actually address anything. Maybe I missed it. I'd be happy if you'd be kind enough to explain how this addresses all my questions.

yes, most cows clearly have a superior intellect than you as evidenced by not only their refusal to eat you, but also their markedly less racist worldviews.
If you stand too close to one; it will start poking you with it's tongue. I consider this an act of aggression.

Animals aren't people; and I don't see how you attribute being a person (Which I thought was a requirement for slavery.) to an animal. For the sake of argument though. Were I a slave; yes, I would care a lot. If I was delicious and doomed to be killed; I would appreciate someone attempting to give a damn about my comfort up to that point. Would you rather be tortured to death after living a life of pain? Or would you prefer a life where you were able to enjoy a semblance of a real life that is ended by a bullet to the brain stem? I don't see how a "slave" could not want a more positive treatment in their short lives.

Out of curiosity; what would make vegan chefs useful to carnivorous creatures? While your skills in marinating tofu may be handy to you; your lack of knowledge when it comes down to how to prepare different cuts of meat would be arguably lacking. You can't be a useful chef for a carnivore if you don't know a rump roast from a rib-eye.
What about a work horse?
But on another note, your semicolons are throwing me off. :-? I keep waiting for a kickass interdependent statement, but then it just goes into finishing a basic sentence leaving me completely unsatisfied.

This is my reason.

"The best way to view meat eaters in 2013 is to think of them as the racists of the 1800s –
products of their upbringing and society . It
would be simplistic and incorrect to think of meat eaters as evil, just as it would be foolish to view Charles Dickens as evil because of his racism."

But like people of the 1800s most of us don't think that way in the 2000s.

A bear or chimp don't have the ability to change in less than 200 years, but people do. Unless we do with the wolf and domesticate it into a dog. We then have different moral judgements for a wolf and dog.

Just like we have a separate behavioral standards for each generation, one day I hope society will embrace my view, and reject its current, in the same way 1800 Dickens has been rejected.

Damn that pesky evolved ability to eat and process meat! Thanks for informing me that I am as bad as an 1800's slave-owner for having chickens, btw.

my wife didn't have time to feed our slaves this morning so they sat outside my window, trampling the onion garden and squawking until i dragged my sorry ass out of bed and fed them.

no whippings were administered.

You do tear their unfertilized eggs from their loving arms though. Monster!
