Oh No... Is this the TMV (Tobacco Mosaic Virus)?

Noob here. Picked up this clone from the dispensary a few weeks ago and never thought much about it since it only appeared on one leaf.
Now, I'm more concerned because it's showing on a few more leaves and turned some yellow.

Some leaves are growing curving either to the left or right. Also, the green color is splotchy on some leaves that seem to be more focused towards one side/half. I've noticed some "tearing" of the leaves that happened by themselves....

Is it too late for this plant? What do I do? It shares a tent with 7 other clones. Am I going to have to throw out all of them and disinfect my tent/room/everything and start over?

magnesium deficiency. TMV only exists in labs now. It originated in our inport of tobacco. It has been retained in the labs since the mid 70's. What people see now is CMV (cucumber mosaic virus) or CTV (curly top virus.) Im a smoker and do so around my plants, and I have never had a problem. What I once thought to be at first CMV, but then leaned to (after learning about CV) CTV. I futher researched and discovered I was an herbicide toxciticy. And the mutations/deformations/necrosis eventually went away. However, the plants were burned and disposed of, and its after that I reviewed my records that I came to this determination. I probably should have taken a tissue sample and had it tested by my county extension. Sorry to ramble, Im high.

Like I had said before-MG deficiency, but Im not 100% on it. Mabey someone else can chime in?

What he said, I didn't read it... except, I must wonder when you grow a beautiful slightly different plant, and your first guess is to throw out everything and start over?

  • No !!!!

That my friend, is over worry.... dial it way back....

Seriously, one leaf is yellow... it could have been resting on the medium and had nutes splashed on it...

Good Luck man.... It's really going to be all right....

Thanks guys! I was looking at TMV and to me the curved leaves and mosaic pattern of green worried me. I'll keep an eye on it...

Lol allot of cheese strains show that trait, as well as chems and northern lights, not all cuts from the same plant will show it either. If its not traveling to other plants it is NOT a virus

How quickly do you think it would show in my other plants? Does it spread like wildfire once you have it?

Its spread through contact if it is a virus so its pretty difficult to answer that. Its just a genetic trait that sometimes expresses itself. Search cheese mosaic and you will see a bunch of plants like yours. Ive had it show on a few plants they just produce a little less. breeders will kill those plants tho. For the home grower just continue to grow them out and harvest as usual. If you must pull the affected leaves throw them in a bag and then spray with a peroxide solution.

I have a Blue Magoo that did the same thing. One half of a leaf would get spots of yellow and lighten up in color over time. Only a couple of leafs do it and It has not spread. I topped/cloned it and both have the same issue.
They seem to be growing just fine and are fast growing with nice flowers. I won't be cloning it again though since I have another from a different mother.

I've never seen a confirmed case of tmv on a cannabis plant, and usually it ends up being broad mites...being an outside clone, my money is on the broad mites..

Its an indoor plant. They've always been indoor. Growers said they had mothers under 1000w mh and floros for cloning..

I'll check out broad mites

Sorry, was waiting for that response.. by outdoor, I meant outdoor source, as in it came from someone other than you is all..
Clones are notorious, if coming from a different source, ie, dispensary, etc, for being infected with all kinds of lovely stuff from p.m. to spider mites to broad mites, so on and so forth .

Hi im new to this site but have been growing for some time now and i would check for mites. read up on them and if you dont have a 32x magnifier glass you can pick them up for 2.00 on ebay. look on the bottom of all the leaves but mostly the bottom leaves. I would remove the yellow leaves and throw them away. yellow leaves wont come back to green and only take from the plant because the plant will try to heal them, but it cant. hope this helps. any body have input on this
