ok to water neem oil to roots close to harvest?

If you want a soil drench there are better options than neem. Neem would be ok for spraying on the surface and on the very bottom of the plant but it probably wont do much.
For very limited effectiveness you can use Misquito Bits. Its only useful against a couple bugs. Ive done a drench with spinosad without any harm. It will kill a lot more.

I'm watering from below and want to screw the bugs on the surface of the water. My question is whether the neem the plants will ingest will adversely effects nearly finished buds.

My opinion - I wouldn’t.
It will enter plants vascular system and most likely alter smell and taste. It is usually NOT used during flowering as it has unfamiliar tastes and smell .

Cheers Budz. I cannot find much about smoking Neem either. Furthermore I just found that it's toxic to fish and frogs. I don't like the sound of watering my plants in flower with water that would kill fish and frogs.

I avoid any type of additives/treatments in the final 1-2 weeks before harvest due to what @Budzbuddha said. I have used KoolBloom Dry for example which contains high amounts of potassium, phosphorus and sulfur and noticed the smoke definitely changed from the previous run when I didn't apply it. In a negative way the buds were definitely impacted by the KB dry. (when applied too late)

Exactly what Budzilla said. If you have gnats just put an inch and a half layer of plain sand on top of your soil and they will disappear.

What kind of bugs are you dealing with? You said you want to screw "the bugs" but what are they? If its fungus gnats for example you can just let the pots almost dry out and eventually they will fuck off somewhere else. I have great success adding castile peppermint soap to my feed if gnats come around, that shit will make them scream and run without any negative impacts on the plant or your health. Dosing isn't super specific... I use around 2ml/gal.
I learned this shit is basically Lost Coast Plant Therapy minus the isopropyl alcohol and its 3-4x cheaper than LCPT.

nteresting Fact: The coolest thing about neem oil is that many plants absorb it through their roots when it's applied to the soil. The roots deliver the neem to the stems and leaves, so when a hungry mealy bug takes a bite of leaf, it gets a mouthful of the deadly neem.Oct 25, 2022
