Oldest weed you’ve smoked?

I've smoked stuff that was a year or more old.....never again! Life is too short to smoke shitty old brown weed.
If the weed was brown after 1 year it was definitely not stored correctly. My crops are almost always far more than I need for personal use and I end up with lots of leftovers. I keep them in jars and cvaults in a cool dark space and they are still green and fragrant well passed the 1 year mark. Is it as good as it was when it was fresh? Of course not. But it sure as he'll isn't brown.

After my mom passed away and I was cleaning out her house, I found a 8 year old jar of purple urkle that I had grown, in my old secret hiding spot. It's hard to believe, but it actually got me high, I ended up smoking the entire jar. It was a packed jar, airtight, in the dark, and stayed pretty cool that entire time.

I regularly had good flower hanging in my drying/curing room for well over 3-5 months post harvest. I kept the humidity between 62-65%, temps usually around 64f, but sometimes would be in the low 70s when the a/c wouldn’t keep up (portable a/c units are garbage, lesson learned).

I’d try to get it trimmed and turkey bagged or jarred around 5 weeks of drying, but sometimes I just didn’t get to some stuff and it would just sit for months in there. Slight browning, and the brightness of the flavor generally dulls around 4 months if I didn’t bag it. No noticeable loss of potency and the texture of the flower is almost always perfect, not too dry.

jarred some Crockett’s Haze tops Dec 2020 and left them in that room, dark, cool, and RH stable. When I pull the lid off, there is a sticky resin around the lip, not sure what it is. Best guess is terpinolene since another terpinolene dominant flower shares a lot of the same oily residue. The flavor is so smooth and the high is as strong or stronger, if just a tad heavier feeling. The oily almost wet feeling of the flower is pretty unique to a few cultivars I’ve run, but you’d think it was harvested 3 weeks ago based on that alone.

I don’t get into that jar much, but it’s a unique treat every time. I rarely have anything fresher than 5-6 months post harvest, and more so 10+ months cure for most of my stash. I think it’s so important and almost never practiced, to let the product get stable before bagging or jarring. No silly “burping” routines other than when it’s “evaluation” time. ‍ and I’ve never had any mold or issues.

my experience anyway. Older/well-cured herb can be fantastic. I’ll report back in 10 years and compare the results

I also grow much more than I need. So from time to time I smoke some that's well over a year old. It's been handled correctly from start to finish so it's always quite good. I do think the high changes a bit as the weed ages though.

Smoked 15 year old weed. High was noticeable, and very short.

Some say hash can keep that long. I wonder why separating it from the plant would make a difference..? I'm curious how the ph of the resin changes over time. What's the perfect ph for hash anyway?
