My dad found my old phototron i grew with it once in 92 never again but i trew a 125w ecolight into it and am starting this winters mothers i also got a digital ballast to replace my 1000 w frankinstein that my electricain buddy put to getter it lasted about 10 years if someone has the anser heres the questoin whats better about a digital ballast

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure digital ballasts are more efficient (less energy cost and cooler running) than traditional magnetic ballasts. I am guessing that they also last longer but am not sure.
