One gallon pot question.

Hey all. I never really used pots so small so I have a question regarding these small 1 gallon pots. Do you guys reckon 32 ounces of water is too much? I just hit my pots with 32 ounces each and it caused a tad bit of run off, so I ASSUME its alright? Plants are exactly 9 days old as of tomorrow if that helps. Pots were also VERY light when picked up.

You want run off. You want to make sure that the soil is throughly wet. Make sure your using soil with good drainage too!
It has AWESOME drainage! I am just use to using bigger containers that leave more room for error. However this year I received a bunch of 1 gallon pots so I figured, why not use them since the plants are going in the ground anyways? It saved me a ton on soil filling these little 1 gallon containers vs a shit load of 5 gallon pots lol

was unsure if 32 ounces was a big excessive or not. Usually in my 5 gallon pots I will hit them with about a gallon of water once a week or so. Still trying to gauge these smaller pots.

Your good. I've seen firsthand a gal grow some enormous plants out of 1 gallon cointainers. Do they need watering more often? Yes they do. Do they need nutes more often? Yes they do. But I've seen it done ( actually 1 gallon pots in a 12/12 from seed setup works wonderfully ).

Awesome! Thanks brother! I am still tipping the pots sideways while bracing the stem to promote extra drainage lol. JUST to be sure, theres still some water dripping out of the side holes when I do this. I plan on putting them in the ground here in a few weeks :) So far I have to admit, these 1 gallon pots seem way more convenient vs starting seeds in a 5 gallon pot! ONE bag of soil filled all my little 1 gallon pots vs buying a huge bale of promix to fill the 5 gallons pots. Saved about 30 bux lol.

Going into the ground soon is to your benefit. But seriously, I've seen healthy plants in a 1 gallon bucket that were over 5 feet tall ( being grown outdoors ) and they couldn't have been happier. More work? absolutely. But it can be done.

Carry on soldier !!!!

Holy crap! That is impressive sir!!!! I would literally SHIT if I seen a 5 foot plant in a 1 gallon pot in person! I saw some insane pictures of huge plants in small containers but never in person! Heres my biggest grow yet! Check these monters out! They were started in 5 gallon pots and tranplanted exactly 1 month later.

very nice. Your posted pics are way too big ( 1.8mb )...gotta downsize that shit !!!!
Oh shit, let me try to fix that! Sorry about that brother. But thank you! I fear these one gallon pots let too much water run down the side bc man, I keep getting drops of water out the sides when I tip the pots up...these damn things lol

Water slowly and evenly. I run a shit load of water through my 1 gallon pots. I like to make sure the soil is evenly wet. When I feed I run water through the 1 gallons until runoff and then I hit them with the nutrient solution a little while later. They seem to like it.

@Traxx187 yeah. Ppl just water until runoff. But if your soil is dry the water won't always stick. You end up with dry pockets in the soil, even if you had runoff. Using biodegradable dish soap helps the water stick to the spil. 1/4 tsp per gallon of water, it acts as a surfactant/wetting agent.
