Hi I used to grow with a 400 watt HPS. I did do one (cheap) grow with cheap LEDs. It’s been a long time. So I got a 32’’x32’’x65’’ tent. Going to try my hand at autos. Right now I have one ice cream Lsted in a five gallon bucket. So not sure if I want to go back to the HPS or looking at the Viparspectra xs1500.What do you guys and girls think. The 400 would be 51 watts/ sq ft. Thanks in advance. Merry Christmas everyone!!

XS1500 is a good light but don't think it would be enough for that tent in flower. If I were you I and wanted to stay with Viparspectra I would think about doing 4 of the XS1000 instead. The advantage of four of the smaller lights, beside the increase in wattage would be the almost perfect coverage you would gain vs one fixture. Buds wall to wall for sure!

If you're looking for one light the Maxsisun MG3000 would be a sweet light for that tent, as would the Mars Hydro FC and FCE 300 lights. I have not used any Mars products yet so can't really tell you anything from experience there.

4 of the Maxsisun MF1000 would also work well. For under $300 this would be tough to beat. Some people don't like that they have remote controls for the dimming, I think they are dope :)

I'd just use the 400 watt HPS. The viparspectra xs1500 is a bit too small for that area.
A marshydro FC- E3000 is a better fit. Bit more expensive but 300 watts.
I used to use the same size tent as you have and I used 2ft F strips and HLG 240h 48a driver to good effect.
Got 270 watts at the wall. Good, even spread of light with the strips.

I picked up both @Maxsisun MF1000 for $60/each. I just couldn't find a better deal. It does have the older Samsung Diodes but bang for buck, I can't really beat it. Plus they have been great lights. Currently doing a Mainline/LST grow with 200w and it's doing great. Too bad I missed a chance to win that 3000 of theirs. Maybe they'll let me make a review video with one sometime. Yes there are far to many plants under this light. Currently waiting on clones to show sex so I can remove the males from this grow of regular seed. Any excess females will be moved to a mother room while leaving 2 to grow under the light. Thought about growing just one but I'm doing a shorter grow window so that should allow me the canopy room for 2 plants. Plus I don't want just one variety.

One is Hans-Down x ? and one Cakepop x ?

While the Hans Down cross appears to be a healthy hybrid.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I was thinking because of actual wattage it wasn’t going to be enough. I will check into all the lights you all recommend. Thanks again that why I love sites like this, you can learn so much. Merry Christmas!!

Buy one good 400watt true draw led and you will smash that place like a 600watt HPS.
I have had 400 and 600 watt HPS in my 3x3. And 400watts of high quality led will out produce the 600watt HPS without fighting the heat issues non stop.
Just my experience.

buy once cry once

Led,s are fine in the right climate, I was using 643w to keep a 300w light running by the time I added heat and I still less than ideal temperatures, with a 400w mh everything is spot on + cheaper to run.
