Ordering Spores Tomorrow!!

Going to give boomers a go for my first time. Haven't quite picked a sub strait yet or for sure which spores I'm going to get. I'm thinking about just doing the PF-Tek since it's my first grow. As for spores, definitely Golden Teachers and then either Cambodians or P.Envys. I've had Envys twice and lost my mind both times, and all of my friends LOVE them.

But I guess this is going to be my journal for this adventure. Any tips, suggestions, or anything else feel free.

I've already read some guides in the past, but these past two days (since I've really been interested/committed) I've been researching a bunch. Right now I'm actually re-watching

Plus spore reviews and other odds and ends.

This is going to be a relatively small one. Probably 4 jars if I do the BRF cakes. And for sure a lot of pics

That I have no decided on yet. It seems just about all the sites have the same prices, and all of them have the same POSITIVE feedback. Any particulars that yall would suggest?

do yourself a big favor and don't use PF Tek, use something more in line with how the mushroom actually grows instead of contorting the process.

Headed to Wally World now for some supplies.

Bump on my last post too, any preferred spore suppliers and/or strains? (PM me about the suppliers if needed)

I would like to recommend myco bags. I have had excellent luck with them. The first ones I got came ready to innoculate which made things really easy. I get my spores from Mycotopia's site, and I have had really good luck with them. They are 10.00 a syringe with free shipping in the US. I have grown b+, golden teacher, and hillbilly so far. Once you grow your mycelium in the bags you can transfer to more bags to expand your grow, fruit them in the bags, or make a bulk tub. I made a bulk tub recently and I just harvested the first flush, nearly 150 grams wet. I'm also doing the popcorn tek in jars. The popcorn takes a bit longer to colonize, but it makes grain to grain transfers and slurries a breeze. It's a great hobby! You can get lots of great info on the mycotopia and shroomery sites. Have fun!

Care to elaborate please?. I would like to do a bulk, in order to keep the height requirement to a minimum for my fruiting chamber.... hopefully that will help with your suggestion?

*BTW, I'm limited to only supplies at Lowes/Home Depot, local garden stores. So I don't think animal manure will be an option, I actually know it wont be.

don't bother with a substrate at all, case colonized popcorn in 3 inch deep trays I don't know what your hight requirement problem is - these things grow 3 to 6 inches high usually.

I just don't really want to have to buy a really tall Tupperware container. Thanks for the info so far though everyone. I'm about to place my order now, Golden Teachers and Cambodians for the first go around.

And I am going to try the Popcorn Tek. Monkeybone's thread inspired me, it seems like less work and material than the PF-Tek

Just placed my order, Golden Teachers and a mystery syringe. Figured I'd go "cheaper" this first go around.

Will do. Only lame thing is, I'm out of town all next week for work  So It will be Friday before I can actually "start" anything.

Here is some useful info my supplier gave me. If you are in an area with high heat it is important to get those out of the mail and in your fridge or they will die. Just spreading helpful advice
