Autos can be tricky outside, I think this is my forth year growing them and I'm still learning. The challenge is finding the sweet spot, it's all about the timing. For me, the best aspect of growing autos outdoors is finishing in the dry, strong late August sun before the fall weather shows up, so I need to time my start to hit that.

For lots of reasons (going back to when I grew photos) I prefer to grow in the ground rather than in pots, but next year I might move back to pots for the flexibility and control. Then I can start them earlier and plan on leaving them in the garage under lights until the weather actually warms up, and basically just have them flower under the sun mid-July through August.

It's been a bit since I've posted anything. All is going great so far, except for having to throw a male out. I'm left with my 2 in the ground and one that I've moved into a 20 gallon pot. The ground plants have been packing on inches daily, bushing out pretty well. I've yet to put any nutes on anything because they're looking very healthy as is. I want to grow big plants outside but I don't want my neighbors knowing. It's legal here but I'd rather not have everyone know I grow cannabis. One side has a couple young kids. The other is an older conservative couple and we're on good terms and I want to keep it that way. The last thing I need is some 10 ft tall pot plants stinking up everyone's backyards. Hopefully within the next couple years we'll sell the house and get a few acres or more. Then it will be game on and I'll have an excuse to buy a tractor. :bigjoint:

Hey guys. Just saw the thread. These are my girls. I've got 2 purple elephants. One in the pot called pig shit and not sure the auto. I didnt know it was auto and topped her right before she was going to bud so she is tiny. And probably wont produce. Its been hot lately and the pig shit is hurting from it. It's only 3 o'clock and she is dropping from the heat. Any suggestions on that? I move her to the most shady spot for the day just here for the picture.

I hope everyone's grows are going well, I look forward to more updates. :)

My autos have gotten bigger than expected. To that end, I've had to lift a couple of the hoops out of their bases and attach them to posts, to give some more height and breadth under the bug netting. @Tim Fox mentioned to me that he thought my late start might have benefited them, and I think he's right. Rather than spend their youth in a prolonged colder slower growth phase (during the late spring), they were started right before the good solid warm weather came. That allowed this year's to grow bigger than last year's -- which where started a whole month earlier, but in the end fit easily under the same hoops without having to raise them higher.

On the other hand, I see something that could be PM?!?! We just came out of a very dry heat wave, so I'm hoping it's just some random bird poop that made it through the netting... I did put in a valve and cut off the girls from the rest of the garden drip system, from what I've read over-watering can set up a propensity for mold and mildew. I'll go back to hand watering for a few weeks, see if that makes a difference.

That's the only spot, so I'm just keeping an eye on it. It's supposed to rain Thursday and I'm not ready to cover them yet so they're going to get wet. That'll either wash it off if its something else, or make it worse if it's PM, I guess. It's been so dry, it's really hard to imagine it's PM. The plant is a Skylar White and one of the group that is starting to smell great, btw. ;)

Both times I've tried to grow J1 (once indoor, once outdoor) they got PM, neither one was grown to finish. I'm sure I still have some Green Cure, if it looks like that's what it is, I'll have to start using it, at least on that one plant.

This year I took clones from GSC, OG Kush, Thai Skunk, Mango those are my outdoor photos. I grew the moms last winter and decided to take cuts around Feb. Yep vegged them for months thought " oh i'm going to harvest late Sept. no problem. But theproblem is I put them into a shelter logic grow tent outdoors to dang early and they flowered and reveg back still going on. I don't have much hope for a good harvest they are. That first picture was before I stripped the heck out of them a month back the rest are how they look now. So needless to say live and learn nothing out till early june next year. Quit trying to trick mother nature she's tricking you back. :)

Purple punch was my top 5 indoor strains we love. I've only purchased recently the wedding cake from dispensary wanted to see what all the " hoopla" was about well...….it is a real good combo of genetics. I'm waiting on cuts from a friend of some clones.

These are just a sample of experimental boredom fun grows with the folgers those are strawberry cheesecake x NL auto a good friend does pollen collection and seeds just for the heck of it and gave me some to try.

Today's update is nothing but positive, the bad stuff doesn't usually come until October. One plant has stretched a ton, twice the size of the other. The big one on the left is chocolate hashberry, the smaller one is cookies and cream. My home plant is still doing pretty well, a couple signs of nitrogen deficiency but that's easy fixable. All in all everything looks great. Once again my plants are a bit too close together, but nothing much i can do, have to make room for the veggies and shit. Cleaned both of the inground ones out again today, gotta keep up on early larf patrol. I had a ton of hives afterwards. It's weird, I have a reaction to the cannabis every year the closer they get to flowering, even more when flowering is in full bloom.
