Organic Blueberry Bud

I am wanting to grow organically. I am wondering if I need to add nutrients or anything else. Or can i just leave the plant in regular potting soil and water it on occasions. Can i pour coffee grounds on top the soil?

Basically I am wondering if i can leave my Plant "AS IS" without doing anything but adding water when needed.

Coffee grounds are too hot to put on the plant directly. They must be composted first.

Yes your plants will need organic nutrients.

If you didnt mix them in the soil to start with you will have to feed with tea's and top dressing.

The soil I am using is "Flower and Vegetable Planting Mix" by Sta-Green. I don't know if it is organic. But i want to keep it organic from here on out. I have not added anything whatsoever besides regular tap water (after being sat out for 3 days).

What is teas and top dressing?

What is a good link to find organic stuff?

I think the soil you used has some organic compost mixed in it.

A "Tea" is a mix of Organic Fertilizer and water. Its best if they are left overnight in a bucket with and Air Pump adding Oxygen.

Top Dressing is what you call it when you put some Organic Fertilizer on top of the soil and mix up the first inch or so, try not to damage any roots but still work it in a bit.

Bat Guano would work great for both of those applications.

Get that long flourescent down to about 3 inches off the plants. All your lights (flourescents) must be at the most 4 inches from your plants. You don't enough light. Without nutrients, and the amount of light you're using, you'll be totally disappointed in your yield. You'll need more light when your plants get bigger too. You plants are way too stretched out because the lights are WAY TOO FAR AWAY.

...and you DO NOT need nutrients. You should, however, use some. Plants use photosynthesis as a means for feeding. Nutrients are like steroids. Fox Farm is organic. That's what I'm using. Check out my grow journal link at the bottom to see what the proximity of my lights were at the beginning of my grow. Go through as many grow journals as you can to learn from other peoples mistakes and successes.

that floresent is way up there in my closet... what good would it do to drop it down.. its too small in comparison to these two CFL's

This is the soil i am using. Also this is my new setup of my grow room. Ive had it in place for a few hours now.
.
Greenearth.... Your soil is very weak in NPK. You will need to add some NPK soon. If you want to just pour it out of the bottle & mix. I recommended Earth Juice, Metanaturals, Bontanicare Pure Blend Pro (online hydro shops), or BMO's Grow it Green (Ebay).
.
If you are a do it yourself guy - read this :

.
& I agree, you need more light - without it - they are going to stretch, be thin and produce very little.

Hope this helps...

hey up greenearth. NPK is the elements in your soil that you are using, these elements are absolutly crucial to get and to maintain a healthy growin plant, i really cant stress that enough! the N part stands for Nitrogen the P part stands for Potassum and i cant remember the K part. different soils will have different values ov NPK and u can find out how much NPK your soil has simply by looking on the bag the soil came in. NPK values are all in numbers, N will have a number P will have a number and K will have a number. i noticed on a bag in 1 ov your pics it had something like 0.05-0.04-0.03 that is way way too weak, theres no goodness in that soil whatsoever, u need to change that AS SOON AS POSS. look at other soils and look at their values u need something like 8-10-9. your lights should be ok you just need to move them abit closer no more then 3 inches away, but please please please get that soil changed

any updates greenearth???

I moved the lights 2 inches away from the plants. They are not doing any worse but are not doing any better. I kept everything as is except for the watering. I didnt water them for 3 days (they got really dry) then this morning I flushed them a little bit.

So for now its just a waiting game.

EDIT:

I have not changed the soil or added any nutes. I read that plants in the veg stage need little or no nutes. So everything is the same except the light height and the watering.

Thanks

You really should get some nutes. BMO is the best I've come across, if going organic. You can get it on Ebay, just type in BMO. What you read about plants in the veg stage needing little to no nutes isn't true, and I don't know where you read that. What you probably read is that for the first couple weeks of the seedling, going into the veg stage, they don't need any nutes, because it is all being supplied in the soil that you use.

Your plants are already looking like they are at a stand still, not really even growing anymore, and they kind of look yellow (It could just be the light and the picture). But if they are yellow, then that is a sure sign of a nutrient def.

Also, these are young seedlings! Make sure that you keep them hydrated, or they will come to a hault, wither, and die.

NPK is short for Nitrogen(N), Phosphorous(P), and Potassium(K). Just had to clear that up. Disregard that smokeygun guys advice. You can tell who's credible by looking right underneath someones name and to the top right of everything they post, its rep yo. If someone is a stranger it means they're new to the site and usually don't have much experience growing. Growitgreen is a very reputable source for information, I would listen to any advice he gives you. You actually did the right thing buying soil light in nutrients, young plants can't handle very much. You need way more light though, and you need the right spectrum for veg, which is 6500K or "daylight" bulbs. I would try to shoot for at least a couple 40 watt cfl's(true wattage, not incandescent equivalent). Your plants will require some type of nutrient source after a few weeks, some plants do well without nutrients but marijuana flourishes with regular organic feeding.

u dont know me dankness so dont judge me, just because im new to rollitup doesnt mean i cant help any1 out.......or is that how it is round here?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? greenearth your not a bad father, wot ive seen in your pics is 2 normal looking seedlings that are strechin abit thats all, they are strechin because they are simply after more light. my appologies P is actually phosphorous and not potassium. if any1 else has any views about NPK values for seedlings then please feel free. i still stand by the fact that 0.05-0.04-0.03 is too weak. seedlings surly needs all the nutes they can get, aint havin a go greenearth but those values are next to nothin. we all joined rollitup to enjoy each others grows and to offer any advice if need be. not to slag off any1 elses views or advice
